@ numb "By far the best sollution for encoding to 3gp/mp4 enabled S//E phones " - Can you confirm that this software can convert to both .3gp and mpeg4?
Will this also play .3gp and mpeg4 as I've a DVD full of these types of files but, currently, I cannot view them ...

i've used PVauthor, MpegableXlive, and Nero RECODE...so far the best and fastest is Nero RECODE! just make sure your total bitrate does not exceed 264kb/s (video about 200kbit and audio :40kbit stereo 22050khz) greater than 2674kb/s would slowdown the movie and sometimes unsychcronize the audio.... better use RECODe since this program adjusts the bitrate to avoid unsyching..

Hmm...Nero Recode sounds like something worth trying out
But is it as user friendly as MpegableXlive

Recode doesnt convert to .3gp, but to .mp4 using mpeg4 videocodec and AAC audiocodec, this is optimum for playback on S//E phones.
Recode is not a player, its a converter, Recode will not play your files.
But included is the Nero Showtime which will.
Quicktime also plays both .3gp and .mp4 videos

Oh no, nero isn't freeware, far from it in fact

its excellent and worth every penny, its available in an update if you already have a fully registered version of Nero Ultra edition though.
