u need to flash to the eu_3 language pack - then volume ringer set to zero will silence the cam.
HOWEVER, There IS a way around it if you can't flash your language pack. For this trick you need network reception...make a call to a (preferably free) number, then start-up the cam. If you take a pic while the call is still connected, the camera won't make a single sound!!
