Yeh can be , but generally irc is where the scum of the internet hang out. It's the oldschool way of downloading. My advice would be stay away from irc lol it not that easy to get wat ur looking for anyway.

there has been a few things i got off p2p which were named something which they weren't. a few of them had been viruses and trojans. lucky i had pc-cillin doing a real-time scan. so far no viruses or trojans off of bit torrent

Lol,Yeh but irc is still considered the 'underground' of the net and is full of virus and other crap. And well irc is crap for most tings anyway, its a dying protocol.

@mkush
What are you talking about? The "Scum" of the internet? Jesus, where have YOU been hanging out on IRC? I generally just use it to request files from bots, and I've NEVER gotten a virus (I scan all of them before touching them) and NEVER any spyware/adware either. Also, the files are almost guaranteed to be what you are looking for! I've never gotten anything that wasn't exactly what it said it was. No corrupt files either, 'cause the servers check them themselves (or at least most of them do).

Its actually kinda difficult to explain, but my guide (on the 1st page using esato-normal and 2nd using esato-mobile) will get you started. All you need is a copy of mIRC (google it).
My guide makes it sound difficult, but half the battle is setting up mIRC to recieve, and the rest of the battle is really easy, you just need to do it a couple of times to get the hang of it.
