My former love was my Philips Ozeo. I think that a phone's UI is an important factor in whether you become attached to it or not. That's why SE phones are so well liked. The Alcatel 511 I owned was so difficult to use the I seldom bothered with it. I eventually swapped it for another Ozeo...

I could live without it. There be changes, I'd buy a new mp3 player, I'd probably need a pda, I'd have to get the landline connected, I'd be pulling up at phoneboxes to make calls and check messages, I'd miss out on great photo opportunities... the list goes on.
So basically it'd be a bit pointless to go without.

I remember i had a HUUUGE Motorola, then an NEC, then switched to Nokia. I couldn't live without those antiques with their very limited capabilities, so i certainly can't live without the Symbian capabilities of today's mobiles...

To live without my phone(?) - precisely my 9500 communicator - I would need to:
1. buy a notebook/tablet PC
2. arrange for some other form of mobile internet access
3. arrange for a fax line and machine
4. purchase a portable camera; and
5. buy a walkman or MP3 player
I am sure that I can live without it. But would it be worth the trouble? Very unlikely
