Well I don't understand...
If you are away from your phone, you don't need it to be switched on... And if you are next to your phone, you don't need it to be password protected!

There is a small util that locks and alarms your phone
Here it is very simple and only uses a single key to unlock but it is better than nothing.
Oops just noticed zip is PW protected (sort of ironic really
