below are the ONLY models of that davinciteam can do a direct unlock on;

K750, D750, W800, K600, V600, Z500, J300, K300, Z800, V800, K700, S700, S710, F500, K500, Z1010 P910, T610, T616, T630, Z600, P900,
T230, T290, T300, T310, P800, T39m, R520, T65s, T68x.

as you can see the Z520i is NOT listed therfore I think you need something more in the ways of SEtool or a cruiser cable.

sorry to be the breaker of bad news @masseur

yeah, I saw that list in the davinci application however it appeared to recognise it as a K750/W800/(something else I can't remember) and it certainly initialised correctly and was able to tell me the phone lock code... so I was hopefull that SE didn't change their locking mechanism soley for the Z520 and also hoped it was a simple matter that the latest davinci software simply hasn't been changed to say its compatible with the Z520

I still think it would be compatible if I had the right cable. I'll take a closer look tonight as it was getting late last night and I already had a few beers!

Well the 'few beers' part of that sounds good!

But recognising the Z520i as a K750i/W800i is just weird eheh, I think it most likely is, as you have mentioned, to do with not having the required cable.

On the bright side at least you have a Z520i as I tryed to order a few but o2 said that I have ordered to many phones, they even rejected my mates card as he bought 2 phones from o2 about 8months ago! Just seems stupid that your only allowed to purchase 2 within the space of 6-12 months.

Anyway enough of me moaning on about odd things, and back to the problem! I'm on html light at the minute on my P910i (its factory unlocked/unbranded and was updated on SEUS a week ago *hint hint* maybe for sale when P990 comes out if your still looking for one eheh) but will try to find out a little more information when I get home later this evening. By which time hopefully the solution will have been found!

p.s. just a final thought as I know my posts are getting longer and longer! but couldn't you just give the guys at o2 a call and ask for the network unlock code? i've done that a lot with my free upgrades on orange & vodafone, don't see why o2 should be any different in this respect.

yeah I thought weird but perhaps it recognised it in some part but because the application isn't coded to specifically recognise the Z520 that was all it could say. this is pure speculation now of course!

I still have one purchase left I guess and am so close to getting a second Z520 but wondering what great deal might come up in the near future for something else (like the L7 SLVR)

hint taken! I'm in no rush but if one matching my specs comes up I'll grab it

yeah, I've done that once with vodafone (P910) but then returned the phone to them anyway as I really despise branding!

I've got no realy history with O2 so I doubt they will just give up the code like that so I'll wait to hear if anyone else has success

anyway, cant be a big deal unlocking these things even if I take it somewhere. its not even something I care much about as my daughter is happy with O2 but you know me... once I question something I gotta find the answer!

Was it locked to O2?
Also, I suppose I need to be a student to order £79.99 one?
