@fatreg... yeh it took my comp a while to install itself an then decided it didnt have drivers for most of the things i have on the comp includin the ethernet controller, wifi, sound card and display drivers lol.. was a lot of fun!

heres my desktop on ma Photo Computer (one i use soley for editing etc...).
As yeh can see i find it hard to remember stuff so the notes gadgets help me out a hell of a lot!

Too be honest though, on a laptop (HP as well) I got for £800 odd, 160gb HDD, 15.4" HD LCD, 128mb nVidia graphics, Vista Home premium, 1.6ghz AMD X2 dual-core, light-scribe direct disc labeling, built in webcam, dual-layer DVD re-writer + more isn't bad! And it's really slim and light.

yeah, mine has all that too, but the flaw in yours is the crappy amd 1.6ghz cpu. you did not specify how much ram you have, so i expect it to be 533mhz, and 1gb.

@fatreg: my lappy took 10 minutes to install xp, and 20 mins to install vista. upgrading from vista to vista took 40mins in total.

My Desktop:

Compaq V2020 laptop (now 2 years old)
Pentium M 1.6GHz, 256Mb RAM, 40GB HDD (still 27 Gig unused)
Windows XP sp2, IE7, Office 2007 Home & Student Edition
A great combination for me, not changing anytime soon.

Been using vista for some time now so here's a screenie of my vista desktop.....plain and simple with not too many icons
Notice the untitled.jpg on the desktop....for some strange reason i find that thumbnail quite amusing.

@johnex your ram score seems a bit off mate. I get 5.1 with my 2gigs of archaic ddr1.
