When i phoned up the O2 guy asked what i had already been offered elsewhere, but i said i'd like to hear what he was offering first but that all the other service providers offered me the phone for free. It worked a treat.
Ahh, my monthly spend is only £15 , as I got the online 200 tariff with discount last year .... Im seriously considering taking the £100 pound credit for not upgrading , money is tight at the moment and I can get 6 months free rental out of that. The last O2 guy said I could go into any O2 shop and upgrade there , I wonder how flexible they are ...

I've been with O2 for a long time (I started as a BT Genie customer) and rang them recently saying I wanted to cancel my contract.
I was immediately offered 750 minutes to any network anytime, and 750 texts for £28 a month. They have also said I will be able to upgrade free to a K800i.
Also, which may or may not be widely known, the agent I spoke to said to call on the 28th of June after 12 as the K800's will be available on their system after this point.

I was with Vodafone last year, when I phoned up to cancel my contract they offered me a K750i(new out at the time) with a I think it was about 100 xnet mins and 200 text(or something similar) for £15pm. They weren't willing to do any more than that and I didn't care as I wanted to leave them due to bad reception quality in my area.
But as has been said before, it's always worth ago. But I have to say the branding on Vodafone, also out me off. I bet the K800, has a big voda sign where it should have cybershot.

a family member had the S700 (so did I at the time, on O2) and I used to cut up my own mp3s to have as ringtones, and when I sent them to him he could play them but it wouldnt allow him to assign them as ringtones.
he eventually broke the phone.

Just called O2 again today. They knocked my previous deal (quoted below) down to £20 per month.
A GUIDE TO MOBILE CONTRACT BARTERING:
1. Check all the high street retailers & websites online including E 2 SAVE and this forum for a deal you like.
2. Phone up with this quote, say you were offered the deal by a major retailer i.e CW.
3. They should better that offer - depending on how much you spend and whether you have paid your bills on time. Get a reference number and a name of the person who offered it. Hang up and search for a better deal.
4. Call back the next day and say you weren't happy with the previous offer and that you have been offered a new deal (again by a major retailer). Again, they should better it, then take the details as before.
Keep doing this and if you arent happy:
5. Politely remind the rep that you have paid your bills on time and give her a figure for your annual spend or a high bill you had (grab your old bills). Say you are a valuable customer but you feel that they are offering new and 'untested' customers a better deal. If this doesn't have an effect:
6. Ask for your PAC code. This will put you through to the rententions dep and you can be sure as hell that they will throw offers at you left right and center.
**Remember** Don't accept the first offer they make or even subsequent ones. (I'm not going to accept the £5 pm change on mine!!) Say politely that you will think about it and get back to them as you are sure that you saw a better deal with another network provider. This should get them back on the calculator again but don't worry if it doesn't. Just hang up and try another operator.

I'm gonna try and get free video calling, but what do you guys think? I have spent on average around £60 per month over the last 12 months with them. Can I squeeze some more? This was done by charming a nice lady sales rep not the rententions department.....

that deal already includes the phone free on E2save.
the deal on o2 website does 500 free txts though, whereas the other deal only does 100
i'll use way more than 100 per month, so in getting the extra free thats about £576 per year i'd save on txts.. .. unless the e2save deal comes with the 500 txts

They're offering some pretty good deals.
I've personally had a bad experience with 3 before and wouldn't use them, but its good to use as a bargaining tool.
example of 3's offer:
£15 line rental for first 6 months then £30 after. This includes 300 xnet anytime mins, 1000 texts, £5 of free downloads, 50 free video mins & 50 video messages every month & k800i free. That'll take a bit of beating by O2.

haha must be true because i'm on that but paying 35 a month for it, on 12 months and free K800i.
they could do nothing to better it and i send 800+ txts a month so i cant cut down to 500, that would be 30 quid more a month straight away!
suits me in all fairness.. think you gotta be careful because they tried to fob me off onto a 18month contract and thats maybe what some people might be quoted on here with silly low prices.

For this will get 250 mins and 300 txts
happy enough with that but still might squeeze them for more
would prefer to get N80 but no good contracts with that at present
