Not all memory is the same. Flash memory cannot be used as RAM, its too slow. As sleepyhead said, the issue is a little more complicated than it appears - to do with Symbian 9.1 and architectural changes SE and Nokia have made to their Smartphones. But the result of all these changes has resulted in some dis-benefit for us users - ie even though the hardware specs have improved we've not seen any significant improvement as end users.

I use the virtual keybord on my ipaq, and it´s great. But the handwriting recognition never worked any good for me. I think p900 had it, but i never used it. I really want to use the inside one.... but I´m not convinced it will work for me.

Do you use the inside keypad?

I'm using the qwerty keyboard. It's needs a bit practice but I think it's great. The biggest issue for me right now is the mediaplayer. I'm testing it right now and it seem to have problem with bigger mp4 files. The phone just crashes and I have to restart. I will try with smaller files see if that's the problem. Anyone who experience the same problem?

I prefer the qwerty or handwriting recognition.

Got my P990i today
Charged it, played around with it for a little while and sent my first SMS... and the phone turned itself off - for no reason. After a while it lightened up again and told me it had decided to take a break to optimize itself. Yeah right, sending an SMS can really be a tough job, even for a smartphone! And the message was more than 160 characters too! I should have known... Anyway, I've got to check what SEUS can do for me. My P990 has firmware R4-something. As I said, the average office user would already be on his way to the service center, filled with anger and regret. Pushing this kind of crap to the market is going to hurt SE's reputation in the long run.

@Osmano

I tried with a 150 MB full length movie (coded for my W900i), and the P990 wouldn't accept it. Crashed, and had to be restarted. It did not run the movie - which runs very smoothly on the W900i. The W900i has of course different graphics hardware, but the movie is coded in a way that I thought would work on the P990 too. I'll have to check some specifications to find out what can be wrong. And update my P990.

when you mention "coded for" What do you mean by that? I use standard mp4 files which I can play on the Quickplayer.

PMSL really u think so??, hmmm seems like then your a pretty good mind reader by the looks of it .
Anyways update the firmware on the phone, its the first thing you should do anyways. As for your messaging crash??, well i had the phone a few days before they released the new firmware and i could send texts which were very long quite easily. Probably crashed because you had other apps running which took up most of the memory available.
The new firmware rectifies that somewhat, mem management is slightly improved.

Just my two cents, someone is not telling some facts right here and is a shame...

No hard feelings! He who knows... he knows!!!

Do you think the RAM problem can be fixed by firmware upgrade or by hardware??
