Interview with UK Managing Director John Bamber.

Sony Ericsson has announced an extensive range of new handsets and has been making a lot of noise about its ambitions to soon become one of the world's top three phone manufacturers. Mobile caught up with UK managing director John Harber to see what the company has planned.

Here are the key points from the interview:

Sony Ericsson aims to Global No3 by the end of 2007.
LG has achieved great success in emerging markets.
There is pressure to get things right in the emerging markets.
The low end phones recently launched play a big part there.
The K550i and W610i are specifically made for the UK Prepay market (W610i - £150).
The K750i has been very successful in the prepay sector.
The N95 is not perceived as a threat as it doesn't compete with anything in the product line at the moment.
The store aims to be established within 3 years.

It looks like Nokia is finally reacting to the drubbing its getting at the moment in the UK market.

Nokia is to recruit its first ever UK sales director, Mobile has learned, in a bid to boost market share.
