I cant believe it - you get a walkman phone with motion sensor gaming, stereo speakers, inbuilt gps, 3.2 megapixel camera, nice design, great media player and you still complain?!?!
Honestly, this is a good effort from SE, you should be thankful they are moving in the right direction.
And about the complaints with SE screens not boasting 16 million colours - Have you seen the new screens? They are really nice. K850 screen which is the same in the W760 is actually better than the Nokia N82 screen.

Yes this is a good direction that SE is headed in. I don't care about the built-in GPS as I won't use it.
This is a good phone, no doubt about it. However, having two tiny features such as AF and an LED would have... completed the phone. If not AF then at least an LED so that the camera would be of any use in low light conditions.
Regarding the 3.5 jack versus the adapter, do you know how irritating it is to have the connector pop out (at one end) while in your pocket, especially in the case of jeans. This is made even worse by having the fastport on the side in some of the phones. So you can see how having the jack would be a helpful thing.
Overall, a good-specced phone, but could have been a great one.

Wifi is not that important in a se device. Afterall is very. slow (b standard - if anything). My bigest problem is the pathetic timeframe - you all know, it may well be the middle of 2008 until this phone hits the shelfs. By then Nokia will have a mobile wimax device. And a gps in a 2.2in java phone

Hmmm . . . It will be interesting to see the software implementation. Certainly non of the 'main' symbian/wm6 programs will work (route66, tomtom, garmin mobile). Nice feature for ads thou.
Either you don't know ANYTHING of WIFI or you have no understanding of Latency. Latency's of even HSDPA is above 80ms., WiFi is MUCH MUCH lower .. something to the tune of 15ms avg.
HSDPA is 3.5Mbps or 7.2Mbps = thats MegaBITS per SECOND!
WiFi 802.11b = average of 5-7MegaBITS per SECOND
WiFi 802.11g = average of 11-22 MegaBITS per SECOND
WiFi 802.11N = average of 50MegaBITS per second!
As you go HIGHER (b > G > N) you get LOWER Latency's and FASTER downloads & UPLOADS and MORE ppl simultaneously connected - if using the SAME bands. THIS is WITHOUT frequency hoping.
If you are using the P990 as a reference > then no wonder you have the notion that WiFi is slow. The issue is the OLD CPU cannot handle the data SO FAST! P1i fairs MUCH MUCH better.
Either way I LOVE this W790 ... & I'm getting one as a backup & SOLID phone for vacation this year! I think its THE BEST successor to the W900 thus far. I'd LOVE to see its video recording capabilities.
I'd also love to see the Gaming on this ... and also ... maybe Remote Game Play on the Playstation 3?! Or even sharing video or pictures ?!
oh yes!
Either way this unit would be the PERFECT F-U to Motorola if they stuck the WLAN & UIQ3.2 SMartphone in this.

SE GPS is better coz first its SE second you can use 3rd party applications and third nobody can challenge Google Maps. 3.5mm jacks also become loose. They are not perfact either. Wifi g is fast but do you see any device including laptops which has pratctically touched 11mbps speed. Come to real world. Still bandwidth is shared among wifi users. Mostly wifi is not free and when you have mobile data plan then you can surf anywhere on earth.

I beg to differ. I am not SETTLING, this is why I moved away from SE for now. I am a paying customer and I shouldn't have to settle for anything. SE moving in the right direction is not good enough for me. Its kinda like going to a restaurant and getting something you didn't order. I'm sure the restaurant getting your order wrong but getting closer to it is not going to satisfy anyone. Solution, different restaurant that offers what you want.
I've had it with SE so no good effort kudos to them. Man that sounds disgruntled. Take my $$$ somewhere else.

i did read some where last night saying that the reason there is no front video call cam is because its an American version being shown (being in Las Vegas and all) though i thought the

american phones (some of) were shipping with 3g (or hsdpa)
so maybe that was a mistake?

Or is it the Chinese version?
I remember that yesterday when reading the press release I went to SE's global portfolio and there's only W760c listed, then W760i came later on.

If that so, i.e., the W760 we've already seen is the non-3G version, where's the front camera supposed to be placed in the 3G version?
