is this clear bass and clear stereo a software or hardware thing?
software
the new sound-feature is both new hardware and software and its called • Clear audio experience. (it have new sound-circuits, etc)
i repeat, its only SOFTWARE. those features they said were partly related to headphones provided and software features in phones

The SE tech support told you W980 has new sound circuits? What are sound circuits BTW? never heard of such a thing. And what is clear audio experience?

@NightBlade
Here's a link that contains the original themes, flash menus, and standby of the W980i:
http://semcblog.wordpress.com/?s=flash
But you need to convert the flash menu into flash lite v1.1 since it's v2.0 and won't work on most of SE phones.

its quite difficult to explain everything in english.... sound circuits is "ljud krets" on Swedish....
and
clear audio experience is the NEW

music feature. W980 is the first

phone with that feature

Do you mean an audio chip? Kind of like the PC sound card?

As it is discussed here the new improvements in W980 is hardware and software. There is a DSP chip that will enhance the sound quality and noise cancellation will be done to support the sound experience.
