The fastport will loosen/wear because the plastic will wear up over time. If only they could strengthen it with some metal stuff. I like the fastport though.

The fastport will wear quickly only if you don't use it properly. I think it can be changed though... At least it is easy to remove it from the motherboard when the phone is taken apart...

usually the "wear" is just that it needs a good clean with contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol and cotton bud. (don't clean with any pointing implement this will make contact worse)

The fastport itself is quite good but I have problems with the headset because on my K770, its on the side so the headset has the wire at a right angle. This is why the headset f***s up so quickly. Sort it out !

? My W910 is on the side and it's not even close to worn out yet? Do you swing the phone around in the air by the headset??

After owning a W902, I've come to realize how unpractical the side fastport is. You are in contact with it which ever way you hold it or put it with the headset jack there. And have you ever tried taking photos in landscape with it? The damn thing just hinders stability for photo-taking because your fingers would have to be configured in an unstable and unusual way. Not to mention shake control which is impossible to activate with the headset jack there since the key is positioned on the top right side of the phone and again, it's like a sick joke to have to struggle to position your fingers correctly and yet failing to do so while at the same time activating the volume keys by accident. You take a picture, the fastport gets contact, you put in in your pocket in any way, there's the contact again (the old fastport won't get any form of contact if placed upside down in the pocket). It looks like a joke (and can't be connected on top of that) on my current desktop charger which I now have no use for. And not to mention having to touch all over the phone and feel where the jack is located to get it out of the pocket with no solid grip. Ughh...can anyone enlighten me again and tell me why on this God forsaken earth is the fastport on the left side instead of underneath? Because I really, really have no idea. That aside, I'm loving everything else about the device

yes I agree it's a really weird idea to place it on the side but there are some examples where it's better on the side. I find it much harder to find the fastport in the dark in order to plug it into my desktop charger (a docking station had to modify with a cutter to fit the W910) at night when I lean over with one hand to stick the phone on charge. If I get up and out of bed and use 2 hands it's easy, but it's almost impossible to feel for the fastport one handed (you need two hands on the phone to feel for the position).

I also find it more difficult to retrieve from a pocket than those with the fastport on the bottom.

However it's easier to connect to the dcu-60 (that comes up the back of the desk from my pc) and still have the phone upright and it sits better in my pocket (when I don't have to pull it out) because the phone usually lies horizontal in my pocket - with the fast port on the side it means less pressure put on the fasport connection. It means not having to reach into my pocket all the time to move the phone to horizontal so it doesn't knock the fastport of or kloosen the connection (as happened with my K800)

tbh, I find either way has equal disadvantages and advantages so I just live with it either way.

WHEY!!!!! finaly after 11 months my fastport connector is packed in. One hour it was fine and now... it only makes a connection if i push the connector down. had to hold it there for an hour like every 2 days.

So yey. my w910i is now all but redundant since i cant use it for music, charging the damn thing wastes an hour of my life... grrrrr

Did you try cleaning the contacts? I give my fastports a clean with cotton bud and isopropyl alcohol (NOT metho or other alcohols; it will eat your plastic) and I never have problems with my fastports (even my K750 still works fine)
