I recently picked up a new T68i and it's very nice. One of the things I did not know at the time however, was the chance in voicemail.
This is with Rogers ATT and I am in Western Canada.
Seems that GSM phone voicemail systems are few and far between. Which implies that many people (like myself) have to dial
long distance (from a landline phone) in order to retrieve voicemail messages. This seems wrong to me. Does anyone know any more about this? i.e. Is anyone else bothered by it ? or is it just no big deal for everyone ...
I would hope that no LD charges would apply if you are check your voicemail right from your phone ...
Just curious ...
Bill

Hello and Greetings from the West Coast!
I'm super new to this board (first post ever), so please excuse the "newbie-ness"
Let's get str8 to the point:
I have a T68 and I have just purchased a MCA-25. I plugged it in but nothing happened -- is it because :
--I need to get the T68 flashed (upgraded to R7A013?) ?
--If so, do I need to have the "i" package (??) --I live in Vancouver BC, does anyone know a place / person that can upgrade the phone for me? How much can I expect to cough up?
--Is the camera DOA??
Again, I'm sure these questions have been posted XXX number of times, but it's pretty time sensitive here, as I need to either upgrade the phone or return the cam..
Thanks so much!

Please ignore the rant a few boxes up regarding LD for voicemail... silly me... a few rules and a little chat... no long distances for voicemail from neither phone nor landline... no problems...
let's chat about something else more interesting...

if anyone is still following this thread ...
I keep hearing that Rogers AT&T in Canada does not have support for GPRS where it affects the email send/receive from the T68i.
Has anyone heard anything about when/if this is ever going to be enabled/set up ??
Thanks.

leibniz,
I'm in Saskatoon... Rogers does indeed have support for the T68i email features over GPRS... I have confirmed this with others, including the SE rep, who uses it regularly. The catch is that you have to sign up for a data access plan (not mobile homepage), which starts at $20 CAD / month for 1.5MB. It's listed on the website as Portage Plus, but I'm told you don't need all of the cables/software... just the service. This is over and above your voice plan.
So if you're willing to fork out $20 or more per month, you can do it...
