The fact that they are going from Silverlight to winRT APIs is a HUGE improvement. This is what WP should've been from the start but.. oh well.

This is probably the hardest part in the process of merging RT with WP, so I expect Windows Phone 9 to be "the child" of those two, which is a very good thing.

What this shows is that Microsoft are, above all, a software company and they know what they are doing if the management allows the engineers to shine by giving them a clear direction.

It also shows that they are in fact listening to devs and consumers by bringing things that people have been asking for since 8 shipped.

All and all... bravo Microsoft.

Just taken delivery of an unlocked white Lumia 1520 charging it up as we speak. I wont really be able to use it until tomorrow as I need to get a nano sim. First impressions are the screen is absolutely fantastic !! and the build quality is second to none , typical Nokia.
Roll on tomorrow to start using it properly.

Congrats Lemmy31

I have one and I thoroughly enjoy it -I hope you will too. What colour is it if you don't mind me asking?. Mine is white and while I like it very much I wish I had yellow....And how do you find it's size....it took me a few days to get used to mine

Thanks guys. Ill know a bit more about battery life when I start to use it over the weekend.

Mine is the white version which is what I wanted. I already have a yellow 1020 so it had to be a different colour to that, I don't like the black and red is an O2 exclusive. Recently I have owned a Note 3, One Max and a Z Ultra so im used to big phones. The Z Ultra is just too big to use as a daily handset, but the One Max and Note 3 were a pleasure to handle and im expecting the 1520 to be as good to hold ( its about the same size as the One Max).
I woke up to an update this morning which to took me to firmware 1028.3562.1402.0001

Hi Bono, I can tell you that the white has a matt finish. I don't know about the other colours apart from Red which as you know is a glossy finish.

Had my screen protectors and white CP-623 case delivered today also
