Well, this is as expected. You can't expect people from all over the world to know immediately that Samsung's flagship for the the first time in years to be inferior in terms of specifications(Disclaimer: inferior in some ways: camera, construction, sound). But I might be wrong. After all, this is the mobile market! Probably, Samsung had garnered enough fanboys that they need not to be the best to be top seller.

I agree. But me at least here in UK I think I would choose to pay £100 less and get a Note 3 instead . Anyway it is good to see that the starting price here un UK is £550 (less than the £600 asked for s4 last year)

Good news, seems the memory situation in the Galaxy S5 16GB isn't as bad as we thought:

Galaxy S5 offers 10.7 GB of usable storage space on 16GB model

Now what I'd like to see is how the battery life goes, Samsung did a great job with the GS4 and Note 3, but apparently GS5 has some brand new power saving tweaks:

Galaxy S5's stellar battery life might be due to Lucid Logic's battery saving tech

Am afraid I would have to disagree with you there. The S4 battery is appallingly bad when I compare it to my LG G2. The S4 for me I would have to keep recharging with my heavy usage but never with the G2

We'll hear soon enough if Lucy Logic power saving is really working.

it is worth noting that LG G2 has a 3000 mAh battery vs 2600 mAh on GS4 so the fact that the battery lasts more on LG is not necessarily due to LG doing a better job with battery consumption .....

I was thinking the same, the G2 uses a much larger 3000mAn battery, and the newer Snapdragon 800 CPU which has better power saving than the Snapdragon 600 in the UK GS4, so it's a given that the G2 would provide longer life.

Anyway...

Samsung has once again gone for the very best SoC available at the time for the Galaxy S5, the Qualcomm MSM8974AC with the new eMMC 5.0 Interface, while Sony has gone for a slightly less powerful MSM8974AB with the older interface, this explains a hell of a lot, seems things haven't changed over the years:

Qualcomm: both Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2 are powered by a Snapdragon 801, but here's the difference

All this good stuff rolling in about the Galaxy S5 really has me thinking if I'm overreacting WRT it's RAM, as it seems Samsung have actually done an outstanding job.
