Thanks Aussie

No differences at all really but obviously the size does make it easier to handle and use. The battery has been very good for me so far, I have easily got over a days usage without having to recharge and this should only increase hopefully
I think that overall the 1520 is the better handset but its size alone would alienate most people. The thing I'm missing most from the 1520 is the Nokia glance screen, hopefully they'll implement it on the 930 one day although I've read that the 930 doesn't have enough display memory to run this, so maybe not.
I'm not a massive "App" fan as long as I have a decent music player, offline satnav , an app to keep up the with Gooners and latest world news stories and can get my emails I only need another half dozen apps to keep me happy so the 300,000 or so in the WP8 app store is easily enough choice for me.
I sold my G3 to buy this, I haven't been a fan of Android for 2-3 years now so it was no big loss for me. The G3 is the best Android I've used but I wont miss it or Android at all.
I'm looking forward to any Lumia 1020 successor for my next handset. Hopefully MS will not waste the R&D that went into that and release a worthy upgrade soon

Congrats Lemmy, enjoy it!

Hopefully there will be both a Lumia 1020 and 1520 successor, it would be such a waste by MS not to make them as both were well differentiated devices from all the Droid and iOS stuff, looks like MS will only unveil the Lumia 730 and 830 at IFA, which is good as they've left a gap in the mid end.

Is the 930 using the same Camera HW as the 1520? Would you say the results from 930 are the same as from the 1520 camera?

Thanks Tsepz

I believe that the two handsets share the same camera. I really haven't had a good chance to try the camera out yet.

I had to return my white 930 this morning, it developed a really irritating clicking noise from the back cover. Not a massive issue but I knew it was there and after 2 days I don't expect build quality issues. P4U didn't have any white in stock and although I could have waited and got one ordered I decided to go for the black version. They had a green one in stock also and although the Green and Orange are very striking I think that they're a bit "young" for an old fella like me ! I'm getting very conservative in my old age.

Although I am getting quite old myself I would gave gone for the orange just to feel young again , ha, ha

Sorry to hear you had problems with the first 930 -hopefully 2nd time you will be luckier . I believe that 930 and 1520 have the same camera. I didn't know 930 doesn't have the knock on- kinda love that hopefully it will come with a future firmware. Also it would be interesting to read how the battery life is

And speaking of wp 8.1 and apps one that I couldn't live without if I was to give up on android us sky go/mobile tv (especially now with the premier league season under way). It us a shame sky hasn't built an app for wp 8.1 yet especially since there are less models of cpu/gnu on wp 8.1 so I believe it would be easier to maintain. Even the sky sports news up is inferior to the it's android counterpart. Still I am constantly using it just in case they are monitoring somehow how many wp users are out here

Fair comment on the Sky Go App, that is one I will miss but Hey Ho id rather use Windows Phone without Sky Go than Android with. To be honest if there are any important footie games on then I'm either at home or if not ill find a local to watch it. If BT start to show more PL games then the Sky Go app may become redundant anyway.

But there is no BT sport app for windows phone though, isn't there? So there would still be a problem. Another app that I use is sun goals (again missing from windows phone)- to see the highlights for all the premier league games and fa cup.

Anyway I am not having a go at windows phone (I quite like my Lumia 1520 even after so long) however I am just pointing out why I couldn't live with windows phone only

One good thing that I noticed about windows phone which I am pretty sure it's and android don't have is the upload in the browser of a file from the phone. That is quite a good feature to have

I know you weren't having a go at windows phone

Your correct about the BT app aswell. I'll just have to be patient and hope they both finally release apps for WP. SKY in Italy seem to have managed it so we'll see.

Take it easy Aussie. Who do you support by the way ?

I support Manchester United and after yesterday it looks like I am in for another year of misery That's why I have to keep buying these new phones to cheer myself up

Yeah not the best start. You've still got a couple of weeks of the Transfer Window to do some shopping, and it looks like you need to. Its gonna go to Chelsea or your neighbours again I think, as long as it doesnt go to Liverpool, that would be a disaster

To be honest at the moment I am just worried that they are so poor. I am hoping for transfers too but after last year I am not holding my breath. But yeah I agree Chelsea and City should be the favourites . Liverpool are strong but hopefully not strong enough to win it! ☺ but like I said after yesterday I am now worried about not making to top 4 let alone win the premier league

Arsenal looks solid this year though- you must be pleased
