I think we should expect the XZ design to hit the lower end models as seen in the leak that came a few weeks back (XZ design but no fingerprint reader) and the successors to the X to be an incremental upgrade to last year. This is the Sony way, I don't think we will get a Y design just yet. I think Sony will have big chin and big forehead devices this year too.
I'm interested to know which devices will be chopped and which will be resurrected. I expect a new XA and XA Ultra, a normal X but no X Performance, new XZ and Compact (hope it is waterproof). I hope we get a new Premium this year and since the Note 7 drama I expect everyone to bring out a high end competitor because there is a gap in the market. While there will be a bunch of Note loyalists, I can see people skipping the Note 8 so its worth having some alternatives on the market since the Note has bossed that niche for so many years.

I think 2016 was probably Sony's most successful year for sometime, apart from the X Compact not living upto the same spec sheet as its predecessors the range has been fairly strong and I'd expect 2017 to be even better with the hopeful return of the Premium (fingers crossed) which as a guess will be a Note alternative and will offer some form of VR experience. The other device I'm interested in is the new XA as this will go head on with the new A3 2017 but with higher spec just like last year but hopefully with a larger battery.
My only wish this year though is for Sony to finally put the S-Master digital amp to give the audio a decent boost.

1am UK time I think, based on past CES events I wouldn't bank on seeing any smartphones there, maybe the usual TV's, headphones, Walkmans and the odd future concept designs. As per the norm MWC or IFA for all things mobile.

Haven't found any smartphone photos on sony's photo servers yet, just a 4k blu ray player, 2 sound bars, a sound system, a projector, 3 portable speakers and new tvs.
