Separated from the Marvel universe.

But that is not the point. I feel most people learn about new phones either from ads, be that in magazines or tv, but more likely from carriers in their countries who advertise the phones in store and on tv and other places like a bus stop, malls, etc.

Another source for new phones is from friends who buy that phone and of course celebrities on social media etc.

Perhaps Sony needs to do more creative marketing, but if their phones are not popular or even offered in the carrier's store, no one will know about them.

Sony mobile's biggest problem is marketing and release strategy imo. If Huawei sells more in Europe without Google sony should sit down and think.

I read gsmarena's note 10 review, no mention of sony. But they say it's a little uncomfortable in hand. But if the roles were reversed they'd say samsung everywhere. (xz3's design). It's Sony's fault, if they had a more recent loop phone I'm sure more people would have noticed the resemblence.

I'm a Raimi Spider-Man fan. Had more heart and soul, they were iconic. Better than any marvel formulaic garbage which only entertain. Sony doesn't need marvel, they'd make more money even if they made a Spider-Man 4 now.

I think they are trying to change.
They invited tech sites to Italy because of X1.
Gsma and iphone arena did there their reviews.

Mr. Buks has a post that in China pre-sale of X1 were 4x better than XZ3.
I know it is not much, but is already a positive number.

Someone made this concept mixing XZ and X5 but with ugly hole.

Sharp Zero Two has 240Hz oled.
X1 2020 needs to match.
Even if it is locked to 60.

Why? Because sharp zero 2 has such a screen, Sony has to follow? 60hz is fine for a consumer phone, some are going for 90hz now and fine, but 240 is overkill and not needed for a normal phone. Yes a higher refresh rate will make the screen OS transitions/effects look smooth, but if the hit to battery life is significant, then I am fine with 60hz.

I'd rather Sony opt for a screen that can do variable refresh rates, say up to 90hz when required and 60hz for most the time and lower for times when a high refresh rate is not required to save battery.

High refresh rates don't make sense on cell phones, or any other battery limited device. Laptops with 120hz or higher refresh rates exist because most people are connected to AC power and those are gaming oriented and most consumer non gaming laptops/ultrabooks do not use such high refresh rates and generally use 60hz.

Instead of 240hz screens, Sony should be focusing on cameras like samsung will be and go for a design like this

Side mounted, but with thinner devices, this might limit the size of the sensor unfortunately.

There is this article

Hopefully the engineers are Sony will go back to creating something unique and exciting in the near term.

I don't think Note 10 going for 1080p is a coincidence, they might bring a high refresh rate phone next year with less resolution. Periscope lenses are nothing new, just newly used in phones.

A curved sensor would be nice for Xperia, it's perfect for fixed focal length and with simpler lens design it might be better than periscopes for zoom.

Also there's this bit from that article,
"Sony is developing a technology that can map an individual’s unique ear shape with just a smartphone photo, which can then be used to program headphones with 360-degree audio."

This'll be better with a ToF sensor, I think this might arrive when they put it in an Xperia.

Never implied they were new, the Sony Mavica MVC-FD7 used something similar, so Sony has experience in this field. EVVBlog took it apart and you can see the design there

That curved sensor is either stuck in development hell but maybe it will eventually make it to a smartphone in the near future. who knows.

Saying it has 240 or more, even if it locked to 60 again could be a good marketing point.
According to XDA even XA2 has 120.

Huge battery can do the job.
Asus with much weaker management but 6000mAh , ROG II does 132h on gsma test.

BBK companies fpr sure will adopt isocell 108MP, they know the number will impress costumers.

They have a patent (from 2017 I think) of sensor with built-in lenses.

BONUS : after 18 months, no phone tested by gsma has better lab samples than XZ2.

I do not see the benefit of having a 240hz screen then looking it to 60 all the time.

A variable refresh rate screen would be more beneficial, 90hz or 120hz for those that want higher but variable down to 30 or even less to save battery.
