Why not increase the top bracket to 1000?

how would that show the quality of the posts any more than 500 does? you'd be surprised at the rubbish some members post to get 10 posts to start their avatar being initially visible, or to get to 50 posts so their avatar is fully visible
nah, IMHO the post count thing should be completely ignored. I notice members more for the quality of their posts and form my opinion based much more on that than post count

well thats outside my scope here on Esato of course, but it does seem to attract much more notice than it deserves given the number of people who query their post count going down from day to day and a member or two who even acclaim their post count in the sig

The 3000's club! as a joke against this 500's club last year
