I do not think that there is silencing software, but actually an internal hack. I.E., you have to turn the phone to silent. Next just becasue something is not "illegal" does not make it unethical. I agree that the sound can be annoying but I also understand SE's reason for having it there. I am sure, that if someone naked ass appeared on the Internet somewhere, lawyers in the States would be foaming at the mouth to sue SE. Better to have the annoyance.

Yes, but my point is that if someone wanted to do that, they would just buy one of the other phones that can be silenced. eg Nokia 7610, Samsung D400

When i bought my s700 i couldn't turn the camera sound off, but now when i take it to no sound when i have it closed and then open up the camera, there is no camera sound. This message was posted from a S700

With the R3F008 firmware in silent mode, there is no sound when taking pictures.
