just wondering if the Isle of Man is mapped on TT5? it is an outline on TT3 but says you're in the irish sea if you tap anywhere. route 66 show the island in red, which means 100% mapped in the specs. are all map formats the same? is it possible to rip a map from route 66 and load it into TT?

No, you cant rip maps. They are all pulled from the same source initially but the vendors then modify them for their own software.

ok, so im wanting to buy some good sat nav kit for my p910i. i dont like the look of wayfinder so im guessing my options are tomtom and route 66? but, ive looked at tonnes of posts/topics/forums/websites and it seems that no-one ACTUALLY knows when these are going to appear. and with tomtom they havent even announced it will EVER appear for the p910i.
looking at posts on estato i see some of you have been waiting for tomtom now for uiq for over a year! i think enoughs enough, you cant wait forever for something that may never turn up. i need sat nav asap and i would be very angry if i waited for tomtom over r66 and tomtom never came out or i had to wait months (or years). surely tomtom are aware that r66 are about to launch this product so why are they so unclear about releasing theres? if they wait until r66 is launched or stall much longer 1000's of potential tomtom customers are going to buy route 66 instead purely because its available now and they have shown clear evidence that its coming whereas tomtom have not.
so back to my original problem, i want good sat nav for my p910i, i want it SOON. is tomtom SO MUCH better than route 66 thats it worth the long wait? or should i just buy route 66 (which actually does seem like it will be released soon)
ps. any news on when route 66 will be out? i know its for sale on mobilefun but ive heard that you pay and its basically a pre order. damn i hate waiting!

its getting to the stage where shelling out an extra £100 or so to get the tomtom go 300 is looking favourite.

the go looks like a fantastic product. package wise you get all the same features as with the mobile edition, traffic info and speed cams are an extra. Good size screen, seperate device. Looks like a sweet setup.
If I had the cash I would have gone for one i think. Looks like the best aftermarket plug in system around.

Been using TomTom GO for about a year now and am looking to upgrade to 700, which looks fantastic. Can't speak highly enough of it, my only criticism being that the signal is very volatile in the centre of London (or anywhere else where you're surrounded by tall buildings).
Problem is, even when the UIQ version does get released, I'm sure it won't have all the functionality of the most recent GO version so you're playing catch-up with what is already available. And, aside from that, I really don't see the point of Sat Nav on your mobile. It's pretty impractical for the majority of uses (although no doubt someone will wheel out some obscure example

) when a portable plug-in system is better all round.

I use Wayfinder and find its excellent. Gets me around without any problems. I dont use the maps much as it costs money to download them but the voice guidance and on screen prompts are fantastic, it does what I need. Avoids traffic, tells me about road works and avoids them. I would love it to make my tea but it does what its supposed to
Only downside is it has to use the phones speaker as the SE dosnt support the port for audio. No matter what program, the hardware and OS dosnt allow this.

Quote:I guess this is a question for Nils, In the guys above review of Wayfinder he says that the voice instructions can only come from the phone speaker not through his handsfree speaker / Car Stereo etc. Is this going to be the case with TOM TOM and Route 66? And if it does only come through the phones speaker has he found it loud enough in every day use?
As the following post says you cannot get the pxxx audio to come out of the port, the hardware/os only allows calls to come out of this.
The best solution ive seen is to use a Belkin Tunecast or similar device. This little thingy ma jig plugs into the audio port of the Pxxx and then transmits whatever is coming out of it over the air to your radio. You just tune it in and you get the audio. No wires, no fuss.
