Make sure you've got the latest JRE. I've got JRE 5 U2.
Get it from here:

Short of that, I don't know... Really make sure you've got enough space on the hard-drive the entire SE update distribution takes quite a bit of space.

Cheers,

inorog,

youre a legend. JRE5 made it work. One problem though. I just completed updating my phone but it didnt change it at all. I have CDA162006/6 R2A03 but i entered CDA162005/4 to get the R4A10 firmware. SEUS updated my phone with the same firmware R2A03. Is this normal or how do i get SEUS to make it R4A10?

This is highly abnormal. Why would you try to get a firmware thats not supposed to be for your type? You're only supposed to get R3A04 as an update to R2A03 for your CDA code.

While you can trick the verification script to tell you that you need R4A10 by plugging in a CDA which will elicit the desired response, you cannot trick the update program. Don't assume that SE programmers are *that* dumb and not verify further which update you *really* need.
And don't take it personally, it's part of an entire philosophy; you don't assume willy-nilly that the user has *any* ideea of what they're talking about (not everyone is technical by nature, just as not everyone can play violin), and on the same note - don't assume that everyone has the best intentions. In any case, when you program, you make damn well sure you verify that the conditions are the one you expect, not the ones the user *thinks* they are.

So in short, I'd say that while you tricked it to tell you what you wanted to hear, the SEUS double-checked before performed the update, and did what it was supposed to do - i.e. updated your phone with the appropriate image.

Oh, and if this would've worked, don't you think all the Unlocking businesses would've gone bust by now?

I've upgraded my P910i to R4A10 less than a week ago, and it works flawlessly. Doesn't restart or hang as some users say here. The menu works faster and startup-shutdown time increased.. anyhow, R4A10 is good enough!

Then how did Mercurial flash his p910i to R4A10?

Redstar said my new CDA should be R3A04. When i entered my CDA162006/26 in SEUS, it says the latest is R2A17. How do i get R3A04? cheers
I think R4A10 are for unbranded phones. Mine is from optus (australia) which has a level 2 branding, comapred to a level1 liek vodafone. Maybe thats why i cannot get R4A10.

If your CDA is 162006/6 as you earlier said, the latest firmware version for that is R3A04 and you should easily be able to get it off SEUS.

You can check out this link for info about current firmware versions.

Getting R3A04 is on the basis of your CDA being 162006/6 as I read in your previous post.

Mercurial managed to get R4A10 because whatever his CDA is, R4A10 was due.

It seems you and Mercurial dont have the same CDA versions.

You can go to [http://uiqzone.org/software/firmware_p910.php] to see the different CDA codes and their corresponding current versions.

My CDA is 162005/4 and the latest firmware for this CDA is R4A10. That's it

i've tried to update my phone, on entering my cd number in the box it tells me:

Your device is not supported
CDA162006/5 R1B01 is not supported or you have entered an incorrect number.

If the number is correct it means that your operator does not approve usage of the service for this device. If the number is incorrect, click Previous and enter the right number.

The phone is an orange one, but it is unlocked.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks
