Looks like you had a very interesting chat with the R&D fellow.
It makes sense to assume that only when 3G can do everything GSM can do - and more - is when it will supercede it.
It sounds like there is still a long way to go. Can't wait to find out what these "surprises" are.

Since whiz has already spoken for me on this point I shall be brief (I can hear the huge sigh of relief!
).
SE could only do what Nokia does if they produced a lot more ahndsets than they do at the moment. SE have never, and probably won;t for some time, compete on a direct one for one basis with Nokia.

very simple solution. maybe SE should drop IR port
from the phone and put in EDGE. This may equalize the production cost.
