still doesn't do what I want it to..

they are in a order I chose....

Mac stuff down the right hand side and windoze stuff down the left hand side...

I would like to stay like that but as soon as I save anything to the desktop if rearranges it all into one big list...

me no likey!

there was an app I saw that locked your desktop in place but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called..

If you UNcheck the 'Keep arranged by' option in Finder's "View > Show View options" window, it shouldn't automatically re-arrange things everytime you save something.

Strange thing happened... The top status bar (?) changed itself, for some reason and I can't do anything to put it back in the way as it was before!
Any ideas guys?

Oh sorry...the layout. I mean it used to be from the right to the left:
spotlight, battery, date and time, international, volume, airport, bluetooth and script. If I remember well. This new layout is really buging me and I have no idea why has it changed itself.

Just hold down the command key (to the left of the space bar) and drag to re-arrange them. They usually appear in the order they load after a restart.
