when the screen is in daylight, it brightens so you can see it in direct sunlight (actually works!) and when you go into shade, the screen fades!
sensor on the front or something?!

Yes. This is controlled by the ambient light sensor which is facing the 3G camera on the front. Other phones have this feature, it helps the phone conserve power.

Compared to the K800i what i had before it's alot brighter, and it's alot brighter than my mates K810i and alot clearer.
