Thank God my K700 came with R2C and I didn't have to go through the horrors of updating.

@ JAGUY85 , this is only the first time it happened , i have updated this k700 many times , and 1 of a friend .
my best bet is that i did something wrong ( forgot to take the sim out or in stead of turning off , i let it on) or something out of my control ( bad/unfinished firmware from

)

Yesterday I used SEUS to update my K700i (US_1)
from R2AE033 to R2AY004. The process worked fine,
but I noticed now that about half of my stored Java
applications on the phone (games, Opera) became
apparently corrupted. I have looked back about 18
pages in this thread and noticed a couple of other
users reported something similar. Is there a known
reason for that happening, could the update process
be stomping on some of the user memory in the phone?
Also, I'm curious why the first post states that we
are at ITP: cxc125813 R2C ... my service menu
reportes cxc125822, before and after the update (this
was an unlocked, unbranded handset). Is the 125822
some sort of customization? Larry.

Oops, sorry, disregard comment concerning ITP version, I was reading
the wrong lines from the software service info screen (on my handset),
there's a line saying cxc125822 R2AY004 which is something else.
The problem I'm trying to get rid of now is, applications seem not to
be able to save settings -- in Opera Mini I used to be able to modify
the bookmarks ... but not after the Update (and re-install of the app).
Some other settings in the phone are not sticking either ... turning off
T9 input for example. I've tried master resets; Larry.

O.K., the preferences issue is gone i.e. inability to save bookmark
changes, T9 pref, etc. I've done some master resets and also told
SEUS to go ahead and repeat the update to the same level as it
did last time. Now, the last master reset prior to the last SEUS was
weird since it would not complete the Master Reset process until I
power-cycled the handset. Also, SEUS was a bit weird in that when
it shows the screen where it says to remove the SIM, replace battery
and continue ... click here to proceed -- but it didn't wait for me to
remove the SIM and click the button, it went ahead (so the SIM
remained in the phone this time). Anyway, the phone works a bit better now
and I've also dusted out the inside (near the display and keypad;) Larry.

SEUS was an interesting experience, and displayed some nice graphics.
It updated the firmware of my K700i but nothing else. After several days
of using the updated handset, I wanted something else. Problems included:
Many Java apps no longer would start
Opera preferences and bookmarks were flaky
Video clips recorded by camera would not play in phone
New Voicemail notification (VMI) no longer working
Shutdown screen graphics looked corrupted
Not all of these are real problems but some of them were too much for me.
I suspect that there was a problem with the customization on my phone,
relative to the firmware level, or possibly the filesystem contents ... I admit
I don't know in detail how the SEUS did its business.
I decided to go for the DaVinci Team's software client (15.8) and spend a credit.
I now appreciate the power of this solution. Updated Main, FS, CDA, and
Finalization all at the same time (I used a DSS-25). All problems in the phone
are gone and it works great. New levels on my handset --
R2CA001 prgCXC 125821_EU_1_C
ITP: CXC 125 813 R2E
CDA 102337/15 R6A
cxc 125822 1E0W
For a first-time user of the Windows app, the flow may seem a bit non-intuitive
and you may be wondering which options are correct for the basic flashing job;
but it wasn't very hard and it worked fine. I also looked at this --

im doing that SEUS thing now and its status is on installing but nothing is telling me how far through installation it has gone. is there a problem? shouldnt there be a bar or something to tell me how far the installation process has gone?
