Before I start let me warn you guys that some features of Bluetooth File Transfer require root permissions so you may have to have root access to enable certain functions.
Allow me to explain quickly before getting into the guide – Root access will allow you to receive from any device (meaning your friend can connect to you and send you content) given you have root access and are running a ROM such as Cyanogen, Dwang, SuperE, OpenÉclair or any other ROM.
Also
Android 1.5/1.6: if your phone is rooted, by using a customized firmware like Dwang or CyanogenMod, then you can receive from any Bluetooth device. Otherwise, if you don't have root, you can receive only from another Bluetooth File Transfer (Android) software.
Using X10 mini pro, rooted with Universal AndRoot, no custom ROM.
Universal AndRoot v1.6.2 beta 5.

I just want to clarify some security issues with rooting.
Because rooting is not a manufacturer or Google approved process, it also doesn't have complicated security measures in place.
What this means is:
Remember how when you install an app, a pop-up dialog showing what that app has access to shows up?
Well, when your phone is rooted... ALL apps... have access to ALL info in your phone. Rooting gives superuser access to all apps. They may or may not use it, but admin access is now universal.
Now, this may or may not be a big deal to many of us that already knew the risks... I just want to put out all the information out there so people thinking about rooting can make an informed decision.
Now most apps don't have any malicious intent... at least none have been reported so far... but it is a danger when rooting.
I'm just hoping for an official tethering app for the X10 line soon. I'm a fan of native apps and functions.

I have a question regarding this. When you root your phone don't you still have to give superuser access on a per app basis? Meaning that if you don't give SU access to a specific app, it doesn't have admin rights?

Sorry my bad, I phrased that wrong... a rooted phone will give unrestricted access to an app that requires SU access... meaning, once an app has SU access... it has access to all your info, in all other apps as well... passwords, contacts, sms, email, etc. An app with SU access MAY be able to retrieve all the info from your phone and transmit it somewhere else.
Although highly unlikely, I just wanted to give potential rooted phone owners a warning. I rooted my phone, but I knew all the security risks involved. Just extending the same courtesy to others than may be considering rooting but aren't aware of the potential risks.

I just want to post some queries regarding the mini pro. I have been on the look out for an Android device for quite some time now and I am really liking the reviews for this unit. The following are some essentials for me if i am going to switch to another smartphone platform ( i am currently using a windows mobile device):
Is there already a way to synchronize contacts, tasks, notes, and calendar (or more simply, PIM) with MS Outlook? I am very dependent on Outlook hence i had been using either Symbian or windows mobile smart phones because both OS's have very good MS Outlook integration (I don't want to synchronize with my Gmail account).
Is there a free document editor for android? I use PocketWord quite often in my winmo device.
