What Sony Needs To Do For Its 2013 Android Lineup

I concur.

On the first point, Sony should either follow the VAIO letters (E for low-end, T for lower-midrange, S for higher-midrange, and Z for flagship) or Alpha/NEX numbers (3, 5, 6, 7, and 9). The former is consistent with a product lettering scheme that they've used for a few years already, and the latter is just plain logical.

On the second point, Sony ought to go to what they did in 2011: use a single internal platform and adapt it to different sizes. High-end phone stays competitive while low-end phone becomes not low end but very compact.

Now it seems that Samsung galaxy S IV is really gonna blow away Yuga/Odin

It is not all about the processing power. It has to have the whole package, software, camera, design and so on.
The IP57 certification my be enough to put the Yuga over the S4.

I understand it. But raw processing power, S4 wins, right?

Anyway, I'm impressed they will fit all of that Yuga processing power into a such thin package. I know it will be quite large, but still.

But I will have to wait a good while before getting it anyway. My XS will have to last until Q4 next year...

@tapas

Are U kidding me? Nobody can mess with YUGA! It doesn't matter how good hardware they put inside... You don't notice anything more... All just marketing strategy, they want just blow brain from customers... YUGA beats HTC latest device "DNA/Deluxe" already!!! YUGA: next please

I'm not worried about SONY next year... SONY will shock the others. Big time is coming.
Sony has suffered enough in recent years... It can only get better.

I can sense 2 big transitions happening in Sony front.

- UI. Jellybean taking so much time it's obvious they trying to correct their mistakes which they did with ICS

- Goals. They're aiming high back again. Yes they always use to have top end phones in the world before. Us now times have changed. It's good to see they want to come back strong.

Let's see what's in the store but YUGA definitely is what seems to be my next phone.

@king-james...

May be i was just overwhelmed by the Quad core Cortex-A15 and 8core GPU...but yeah what you said is 100% true.. sony is in the right way and may be Yuga is the device that can put sony in right track

Sony Yuga and Odin dimensions leak: 5-inchers more compact than the Droid DNA

http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]act-than-the-Droid-DNA_id36836

I like the headline.

S3, Note 2 and YUGA Comparison:

S3 4,8": 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm
YUGA 5": 138.6 x 71 x 8.1 mm
Note2 5,5": 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm

I expect S4 with 5" will be at least 140x73x9 mm (something between S3 and N2)

Notice: YUGA will be easier to use than S3. Thanks to the on-screen-buttons and similar size...

I also think SONYs 6" Phablet won't be bigger than N2.
