Hey there,

Alittle up-date with regards to C905

1.) The Sensor used is a Sony CCD Sensor and not Samsung ... !!! (Damn Glad for that).

2.) Video recording is fixed at QVGA @ 30FPS and will not be VGA as hoped.

3.) Release date brought forward, it will now be end August, begining Sep as Samsung don't get too much of the cake.

Have Fun.

Ciao.

QVGA recording? Then SE still does not have an IMAGING powerhouse. Still going down that safe route (which what brought down their sales last quarter if you ask me). With this attitude, they're really willing to take more crap from such competitive market, and they're still not giving people choice but rather making people choose. Would you want to have VGA recording? Get a business smart phone, the top of the line camera is in a fun, dumb phone, yes, a choice that is oceans apart. Good going idiots.

Well it seems they were using the Samsung module just until the Sony one was ready - which makes sense.

Thanks to micks2005 for telling us.

Thanks dude, we really appreciate the information you give us.

The QVGA video side is very disappointing but then of course, almost nobody I know use the video capabilities of their phone. Just still images, which is more important I think.

However, with better recording they could tap into the YouTube market I guess. Anyway, I think the Samsung phone with 8MP only records at QVGA too which means it doesn't trump it in that aspect. Strange though.

Not true. It records in QVGA resolution @120 fps AND in VGA @ 30 fps

'Expect it to be integrated into new phones slated for release in the second half of this year, a move that’ll undoubtedly be followed soon after by similarly powerful CCDs from competitors.'

Hmm - Its Dial-a-Phone - but they do mention CCD's and in line with what has been said - its later in the year, and we have news of a Sony Camera Module being used in the C905...

Hi there,

Actually that whole video rec. thing is just a gimic by samsung QVGA @ 120 FPS as to rec. video in real time/real motion you need 30FPS and having more FPS just ruins the video rec.

That's why be it QVGA or VGA 30 FPS is the best. The reason why they didn't include VGA into C905 is they kept it for there new P series handset in which the camera would be below par from C905 but having an 8MP cam no doubt but still it would be way down compared to the C905.

Since SE's strategy is give 80% features but leave 20% out which would mean alot to others.

C905 QVGA video rec.
New P series below par 8MP cam.

And so on and so forth. Next yr the Cyber-shot range will have VGA resolution in there 10MP camera.

But atleast we have a few good things from C905 in the video rec. department, it records in stereo sound and have video stablization and rec. video in H.263 layer. Unlike Nokia & Samsung they don't have video stabilization and they don't rec. in stereo sound.

So in the regards, SE's video rec. is still kool in a way, they're getting there but I guess they're doing it properly and taking 1 step at a time and don't fumble things up like K850i.

Ciao.

For me, the C905 is an absolute Beauty - everything from the front fascia, to the rear camera cover - it screams 'Premium' handset - the new 'C-series' is doing a grand job so far, and from a recent few shots with a C902 - I have to say, I'm bloody impressed!
