Alli can say is that South Africa's middle order sucks, so nearly had 5 ducks, but i guess i should be thankful we only had 4. As for Smith leading the Protea's... well who else should we have, he is the only one holding the squad together. he goes off... the team falls apart... ie. the RSA vs AUS game!!

Relax there young one, Its a decent team it happens on the odd occasion you cant go changing things now.

YOUNG!!! i think not. Anyone got a new TV remote for me... broke it with the frustration of RSA collapse last night. Pieterson got extremely lucky... maybe we should hold onto our luck, as history shows we need it. I can't bear another early exit because of rain, a run out , and duckworth louis showing his ugly head. who will replace my TV then!!

Welcome to the thread, Doops.
Whereabouts on planet Earth art thou?
Have to admit though, the way we have exited world cups, as you mentioned, borders on the surreal.
The last world cup exit was so disappointing, the '92 one (before the Duckworth/Lewis formula) was just plane cruel and that '99 'tie' as a result of the infamous Donald/Klusener cock-up..., well I still don't have words for that one...
That one hurt the most (IMHO), particularly as it was against Oz.

I am from a little big place called Cape Town, northern suburbs.

I just hope we thrash the Irish , Bangladeshies, and you english folk.

At least SA walks away with $150K after beating Sri Lanka.

As per News24.co.za

" It also ensured that South Africa would collect a $150 000 bonus as the world's No 1-ranked team as they cannot be topped by the April 1 cut-off for the International Cricket Council's championship ratings. "

I wonder what SA was playing for... hmmm...the glory or the money!!

Check the commentary n' captions on the first page of this thread, boet. I'm still pretty much a SA citizen. (Albeit, geographically, a true 'soutie' of sorts. )

I just got asked if I watched the cricket, so I replied:

"No. I don't watch T.V."

So they replied: "Cri - ket " (as if I'm stupid and didn't understand)

to which I was forced to reply:

"I don't watch T.V."! (because they ARE stupid and don't understand)

Oh my gosh. Some people......

LOL Doopsy, there's enough SA-orientated pubs to cater for the Saffers here, but yeah, the times that I have watched in an English pub have been quite colourful... of course we route for SA, but it's wise to check out the 'atmosphere' and clientele in the pub prior to shouting out for the green n' gold.

Generally, from my experiences, the English do have a strong mob mentality; loud and brash when they're all together and all bravado is bandied about in front of their mates, BUT things have fortunately never got ugly or out of hand when there's opposing countries being supported in the same pub...maybe just my luck.

A classic example:
Do you remember the Lions tour to SA in 1997? We had lost the first test and then expecting the Boks to get their own back at Kingsmead for the 2nd test. 3 of us went to a local English pub to watch, as we did not have DSTV at the time.
It was soon obvious who we were routing for, and there was some (generally) light-hearted jests and jibes between the few and the mainly Lions-partisan crowd.
Oh, and then that pathetic kicking which cost us that match. Do you remember the jokes about 'White man can't kick' after that match? LOL, the Poms had a good laugh at our misfortune at the end of the match, but there was no in-your-face threatening antics... maybe because they thought we had endured enough embarrassment watching an inept Bok display..)
It would've (probably) been the same in a SA pub with a few Pom supporters watching in it.

HOWEVER, if it was football club rivalry, different thing...pubs can then be very 'territorial' as regards which team they support and it would be foolish (ie. bloody stupid) to shout out something like 'Millwall are a bunch of tossers!' in Millwall fan territory...

@da wanqsta: Ain't Millwall supporters the most feared in the UK for their hooliganism?
