if 5G is really the issue of delayed release, they should simply disable it and enable it in a later software update.
i think the real issue is they don't have the resources to buy the components and produce the phones in time. either they don't have the money to buy the components and manufacture or there aren't enough components for them to do the manufacturing yet.
otherwise, there's no real reason to delay the release if the rumors are true.

Like someone here explained once, looks like they announce and then start to produce.
Instead of producing part of units and then announcement.
They dont even take to the event units with final software according the hands-on videos.
I dont think it's money issues.
I doubt HTC, OnePlus and minor players have higher budget.
In-house stuff is always available and cheaper. And let's suppose the imx666 is the one.
It is not announced yet. Wiki page says April/2019.

Probably the ToF one.
But this means the other ones have to have the same focal length if they are gonna use AUBE. This makes it offer only one angle.

The person you are talking about, username Bulldog_I is a troll maybe? He has zero followers on weibo.. Posts mainly about Sony with no source... Maybe posts rubbish like one person here in Esato(he who should not be namedπ)
He did talk about price Β£799 and 899 for normal and premium.. First posted that premium would be announced later.. Now posting that it would be announced at MWC.. Also something about the back panel material not being glass this time?
