I tried one out yesterday, and damn, it feels fast. My Xperia Z is no slouch either but the Z1 is something else. Not a single hiccup anywhere.

And the camera is great. There's always noise in low-light pics of course, but it's better than average. Plus, the AR and Timeshift camera apps are insanely fun and work really well.

Most of the people I've met had theirs for a little over a week now and were pleasantly surprised with the battery. Especially if you use Stamina Mode correctly and give the right apps an exception it was great according to them.

Right, forgot. Compared to my Z the contrast was much improved. Blacks were really black and the notification bar and softkeys blended very nicely into the nothingness of the phone. Simply lovely. Colours were deeper and more nuanced than the Z. The difference isn't extreme (it's no AMOLED), but for my preference it was perfect. I want my skin tones to be natural, on an AMOLED display everyone looks like they have an orange tan. Pretty nice. Viewing angles were maybe a bit improved but similar. Which in my opinion good enough since you look on your phone straight on and not from an angle.

All in all it's a nice improvement over the Z. It's not a revolution, but the logical evolution. It's visibly more related to the Z than the Z Ultra (which I also had the chance to try).

Haven't tried it, was a noisy place and I was just having WAY too much fun with the AR and Timeshift camera (and both QX cams).

And oh, there are some very nice video ads coming!

"The screen, which features Sony's TVs' TriLuminuous technology, is utterly gorgeous, throwing up bright, vivid colors even in bright daylight. Readers who held back on the Z because of the 'whitewashed' effect on viewing angles can rest assured that the Z1 doesn't suffer from the same problem." - hardwarezone

@Miki

That Z1 sample was shot at ISO800, and needless to say the amount of details on this ISO level is impressive

as usual I post process that sample to rid the luminance noise out of it and this is what I got

This just proves that no android smarphone comes close to its image quality, not even the zoom bricks from Samsung could be this detailed

Just the usual CNET "junk"nalism crap they are always fond of. I still remember how they poke fun with SAR about the QX lens rumors. I wonder what happened with Andrea's challenge to them?

Being a RAW shooter myself, I could care less about noise as long as I could fix them with simple NR on my PS lightroom, which is the case with Z1's JPEG engine. I think Z1's approach to keep noise for higher overall details is a good move. People who rely alot on auto settings would find the Luminance noise bad though.
