Samsung used to limit 4K by own choice.
Just need to change things on android to escape it.
Low bitrate and 5 min.
Wouldn't in this case better offer maybe 4K90 or even 6K30 with 160Mbps without time limit?
Imagine how much compression it has.
Bitrates dont seem much different from s10 4k60.
If Sony puts a 28mm 64MP just for 8K, it is failure.
People comment at DPR that 64MP 28mm will become 7MP at 84mm.

it's the first phone to offer this feature. in that, it's not a failure.
when sony put out 960fps super slo mo it was only 720p and very difficult (even now) to capture the moment you want to capture. by your standards - that's a failure. yes they've improved it to 1080p but in general, it's still a difficult feature to truly take advantage of due to its implementation.
just saying it's not a failure for samsung to limit it. it just makes it more gimmicky and useful for marketing.
every company does it.
a failure is when a company creates a feature, implements it the way it should be implemented to get actual use out of it, and it falls flat on its face because it can't be used at all. that's a failure. as implemented, 8k recording is a gimmick for many reasons.
anyway - back on topic. i am excited to see what sony announces. i would hope they don't just tweak xperia 1 and call it an upgrade. yes, adding back the headphone jack, front facing stereo speakers, and bumping specs is technically an upgrade, but with samsung announcing such big strides forward in the mobile innovation space, I would hope sony does more than just tweak it's year old model a bit. i'd like to see sony bring some "world's first" features as they have been recently. and not just as a gimmick, but as a useful and strong feature.

Keep your hopes down, but I think it might be a more further leap rather than the improvements from xz2/xz3 to xperia 1.
You might be surprised that they will have something better, compared to the whole s20 series on some parts (in both hardware and software).

My point is quality may be not much better than actual 4K60 due to huge compression.
Lower than we would expect from 8K.
If Sony does same, it is waste of space and resources.
Much better if they use a variant of the 48MP 1/1.3 the Semicon will sell to BBk and use as wide.
Also, the bokeh will be just a crop, then artificial blur.
Crop wont eliminate the face distortion caused by the wider lenses.
IMHO, if the phone brings 12MP 1/3.4" 16mm isocell + 12MP 1/1.7" 26mm imx555 + 64MP 1/1.7" 28mm isocell , I will be beyond disappointed.
Leap = 8K HDR ?
Are midranges any better than 2019? You can say just yes, no or I have no idea.

There is literally no leaks this far on? 12 days to go and nothing but guesses. It must be some kind of record?

Yeah it's unusual for Sony to manage leaks this well. Must be the new management!

Punishment must be death I suppose. 🤣🤣
I think I saw photos of xz2 maybe 2 days before mwc.
I think the midranges will use the design onleaks called XA3.
Flagship must the one one called 5+.
I have no idea if there is a L4.
Someone here said 3 at mwc and one later.
This "one later" would be Ace 2020?

A friend told me that if you take a still image or frame from the 8K footage, the quality and detail is insane. That's a good enough reason to have it.
