Check if the "Screen timeout " is set to Never in Display and Sounds option in settings

No it's not and now even "Never" is removed as an option
BTW, just installed ADW 1.2.0 Standalone - no problems what so ever.

As per the early screen shot leaks, it has the same unlock screen as the X10

There is a multi purpose slider:
slide from the left to the right side to unlock,
slide from the right to the left side to switch on/off sound

You also have to push the middle button or power on button to light upp the screen as oposed to the menu button in 1.6. The menu button still works for this unless the phone has been idle for a longer period. Then the menu button seems to be turned off.

And as already mentioned, there is a slider available to unlock the screen.
