Sorry for the Freshman question mates. Been traveling around the world and pulled away from the Esato world.
What is rumored to be the P990i replacement? I've been toying around with it for seemingly 2 1/2 yrs now and am anxious to upgrade.

" Apparently the UK will be gaining a new mobile phone from Sony Ericsson in the next month. Pocket-lint has received two invites to press events covering the mobile phone’s launch. The first invite is for the launch of a Walkman handset which debuted at the CES back in January. The second invite is to the launch of a new “hero” mobile phone for the summer.The Sony Ericsson Walkman mobile phone receiving an imminent UK launch is apparently the flip down design W350i, which features the latest up-to-date “Walkman on Top” tech, and will be shown, to the media next week along with something called “Sound Snacks” which so far Sony Ericsson has yet to unveil."

Thanks m8. Too bad, they got away from the flip design and the keyboard. Now it looks like an M600 and straying away from the traditional Pxxx series full keyboard/flip keyboard design. Seems like the release dates between those upgrades are taking longer and longer. I think this is the longest time I've held on to a Pxxx series since my first P800.

Why do u wan't the P990i flip design? it's the DUMBEST and most STUPID form in ergonomics! there is the d-pad but u can't use it with the fullscreen. show the full screen and u loose the numeric keys. Use the numeric keys and u loose the qwerty. Use qwerty but no d-pad.
That's why i'm happy about paris downslider design except the specs though..

Before SE's possible announcement, a certain fruit flavoured manufacturer will be announcing their new all singing, all dancing phone on June 9th. And from what I'm reading and hearing it is going to smash most other mobiles clean out of the water... and also this time round may not have a sole network provider attached. Therefore, I can imagine a lot of people this time snapping up this fruity mobile phone pretty much soon after its release.
SE on the other hand, by announcing Paris at a later date will therefore lose a lot of customers. If SE are so sure that Paris is the next best thing then they would try and steal away customers from other brands by announcing it before June 9th, and labelling it as the true beater of fruit products! But they haven't... and chances are they won't. If on the off-chance they do have the beez-neez of a phone and announce it AFTER June 9th, they would have to consider sacking the entire marketing and sales department!!!
As for the SE Fanboys - lads, do you really think SE care about what you think or want? Sales to Fanboys, compared to sales to everyone else, are a pittance so SE couldn't care less.
Sorry, but that is my possible logical explanation to this sorry saga.
PS I forgot to mention that in August Nokia will be releasing they N96. Judging by the popularity of the N95 I am certain people who haven't gone "fruity" will wait 2 more months for the N96 (not me though as I HATE Nokia customer service!!!)

@Mizzle... re the new iPhone 3G; Dude I told you this would happen. No one can outplay Apple at marketing. SE have made a MASSIVE blunder by delaying their conference till mid June!
It's not about which phone is better... its about who can grab the publics/customers attention most!
At these prices these things'll out sell anything SE throw out in a couple of weeks

The flip gives me a full numeric keypad for just making phone calls. The flip also gives me a full alpha keyboard for texting or emailing. Therefore, I like that the Pxxx series gives me the option to use the mobile phone as a phone or a PDA by the flipping a "flip".
I also have the Nokia 8800 and an SE M600. The condensed keypad/numeric pad of the phone lengthens the time it takes to write an email.
The Pxxx series separated itself from the P1 series and Mxxx series because of the full alpha-numeric keypad it offers. That design comes in handy for someone like me that uses Blackberry connect on a daily basis. No double typing just to get one letter on the screen.
