imo doesnt matter what x1 will containe in the hw/fw. as i see, the only advantage is that it runs different os, if it is, but all the wm features will be already offered in htc dvices for sure. its just a new design, sg interesting for se fans. or se is still hiding sg, what we ll know later first. but atm what i read and see ( feature and menuwise) nothing really new ( except new design )

People keep using the Buzz-phrase 'all the advantages of WM'. I personally dont see any advantages at all over UIQ; nothing which actually matters. Most 3rd party apps for WM are rip-offs, all it seems to do is have an awful UI and connect with outlook or something, but other than that I really dont see why its better. The discrepancies are usually not in WM's favour anyway. Further to this, WM is the last OS Id pick to make a multimedia phone because its too restricting on specs (only 65k colours, only 3.2 Mpx, not compatible with accelerometer, high power consumption in general, devices are bulkier due to required hardware etc). So why the F**k?
If they wanted to make a WM handset, then that's all well and good.
If they wanted to make a high performance multimedia handset, then thats all well and good.
But that they should be the same handset? Catastrophic decision.
Why oh why didnt they just use something similar to what they have for the G900/700 in the way of a UIQ touch optimized interface (more multimedia oriented), with accelerometer, better camera, Xenon flash, Opera 9, the works...THAT would be amazing. TBH the only plus to me is the slide out keyboard, and the specs youd expect as a minimum from a flagship multimedia device.
My point is that I dont care what OS it is; there is no value in having a different OS if at the end of the day it doesnt let the user do anything more useful than previously was possible. In a premium multimedia device, EVERY screen should be visually brilliant. Not just 9! It doesnt even seem to match a low end cyber-shot device on the camera front, or a low end Walkman device in the music department. SO how can you claim this to be a multimedia device? Remember that X1 is not solely for business users but also for the more technically inclined among us. Therefore it should not be running a poor update of an old OS. I dont really think the X1 meets consumer demands face on... Its probably more to do with SE expanding their portfolio; being able to say that theyve made a WM device now.
For these reasons it seems to me that the G900 is on the whole a far better solution in terms of specs than the X1 is. Forget specs, at least it has an OS that you wont just be putting up with! And at least it brings some form of finger touch UI to the SE portfolio- Now this is something useful as we will see more and more of it in the future, as this is the way the industry seems to be heading. I just hope the next X series or UIQ device is more fulfilling than the X1 seems to be. I know the G series already is.

i totally agree with bob.. WM devices are really amazing (, But it not becoz of the quality of the OS .) The main reason for this is the availability of inneumerable no. of third party applications. I too was really surprised by the opputunites it offered.
Had UIQ been as open as WM to third party , WM would stand no where/

semcblog says it will be out on 2009. does the windows OS the culprit of it's terrible delay? and somehow imo i believe they are. given that HTC and SE had been working throughout the Hardware and UI aspects of the device but the OS development itself depends on MS which is proven to be a fan of much delays.

Im beginning to think that the G900 is a better option as well if the x1 is gna come out next year. next yr will be too late for the x1, other devices with better specs wud be out n the x1 wud look outdated
