Why send the shitty displays to the reviewers. That is PR suicide.

It is a display lottery. Some are excellent and some are average. XperiaJunkie has a phone with the very good display and Ambroos has one with the average display. The average display is still better than the Z/ZL display.
The display on my ZL has poor viewing angles but almost every time I show a picture to someone they compliment on the display quality. 99% of people do not care about viewing angles.

I get that, but why isn't Sony ensuring that the press and reviewers get the absolute best display. Its the first thing you see, and so it can heavily colour how you react to the rest of the phone. Set off on the wrong foot (i.e with a bad screen) and the reviewer will inherently not like it much, even if the rest is amazing.

I'm second to that!

@XperiaJunkie
Always keep the lens clean.

Have I got this right?
In 8MP mode, you can play with all the settings, whereas in full resolution, you only get to use your phone in auto mode?

There have been 3 reviews out yet. Out of those 3 we can forget about the crappy CNET review since they are jokers anyway. The rest of the 2 reviews have no complaints with the screen and are full of praise.

So let's see how it unfolds, so far things are very positive

First of all sorry about the dirty lens and yes you are right about the full manual controls in 8MP mode only.The only settings you get in 20MP is the white balance, flash, timer that sort of thing.

I thought it was the other way around.
Every other preview in existence mentioned full control is on 20.7MPx, and Superior Auto with 8MPx....

It's the other way around, Xell already mentioned it when he got to try the Z1, auto mode you're limited to 8mp, while in manual mode you can shoot full 20mp resolution.

It does not make sense if auto mode is 20mp then the manual mode is only limited to 8mp.

I have just double checked and there is no full manual controls in 20MP but I think the Xperia Z1 I have isn't the finished product so it could be the final retail versions will has this function fingers crossed.
