It's not holidays for him (as far as I know) cause he's studying IT or something, and if wherever he's studying is like Canterbury Uni where I'm studying, then he's got just a little bit over a week til the end of the year! (well, before exam leave)

In fact, maybe he's busy studying... Like I should be.

I am on holidays and that's the problem - I'm away from the free Wifi at Uni which is more important to me now that I've dropped my 1GB data plan in favour of the 250MB on the iPhone40 plan. I'm back at Uni next week (and Online more often) then I'll be infrequent again over the holidays, unless I figure out a better way to operate Safari on the iPhone. I'm at Uni tonight putting together a report on The Impact of IT on Meteorology and Weather Forecasting based on my interview today with Bob McDavitt from the MetService.

I don't want to spoil the novelty of your new purchase, but did you know that A200 phones in Mass Storage mode can do the same job? The V640i works a treat when it comes to storing .docx and .ppt files even though it can't open them.

@Soane28
Both C902 and W980 are great phones but the 8GB and Clear Sound would be enough to tempt me towards the W980. Have you seen one? They are A LOT smaller than you'd think from the pics. Impressively small in fact.
If you plan to browse on it though, I would go for a bigger screen but no matter how big the screen, you'll still need to use a zoom function. Even my new iPhone needs to zoom in on almost every page and especially when you want to enter details. In this respect it's not much ahead of an SE phone running Opera Mini 4.1. Other models to consider are the G705 and even the relatively low spec T700 which will have HSDPA, all the latest SE menu eye-candy and features for a bargain basement price. Or you could wait for the W902 and have it all...

Ahh... I meant plug the phone in to the computer using the USB cable and 4 options will appear on the phone screen. Choose Mass Storage and away you go; it does a great impersonation of a USB memory stick but it switches off the phone functions.

I put my 8GB M2 into the MSDP adapter, then into the Sony Memory Stick adapter, then into the card reader on my Compaq Laptop.

BTW, I'm thinking of upgrading the 256MB SODIMM RAM card in my middle-aged laptop to 2x 1GB SODIMM RAM cards for a total of 2GB RAM to speed it up and extend it's life a bit- hopefully until Windows 7 arrives. Anyone have any experience with this type of upgrade? If this goes well, I may even upgrade the 40GB hard drive to a Seagate 160, 250 or 320GB model. Comments?

well I have some knowledge about computers - I built mine!

Upgrading ram will give you a bit of preformance increase, but your computer operates best when your computer's processor kinda matches the ram eg:
low end core 2 duo: 1gb ram will be fine 2gb will give a bit of increase but anything over wont do heaps
high end core 2 duo: 2gb - 4gb
low end core 2 quad: 4gb - 8 gb
high end core 2 quad: 8gb - 32gb

My trusty Compaq is running a Pentium M 1.6Ghz processor. An online assessment recommended three options.
- Adding a second 256MB RAM card for a total of 512MB.
- Adding a 1GB card for a total of 1.25GB, (kinda odd to mismatch these I thought).
- Removing the 256MB card and adding 2x 1GB cards which is my preferred option.

I would like to see this computer in use by my wife for some time yet, possibly using Vista (currently XP SP3). She would be storing 8.1Mp photos and DVD Handycam video files in original and compressed (MPEG-4) formats, browsing TradeMe and recieving emails on it. It struggles with running iTunes and opening large photo folders ATM.
More RAM will improve multitasking while at Uni; later, I'll want to upgrade the HDD for the missus. I'd rather not upgrade the processor ATM and in any event, it doesn't support dual channels.

Has anyone here used Sky Mobile with a P990i? Because it uses opera as it's default browser it seems that it can't go to the live mobile site and therefor I can't watch it :<

VodafoneNZ and Opera browsers don't mix in any way, shape or form. I run Opera 9.52 0n my laptop and...

I dunno what to do other than the obvious - add another browser to the P990. Try the Symbian section for advice and if that fails use Google. It fixes all my Laptop issues.
