Rduncan,
I believe that from day one, SE has stated that they will be concentrating on the P990i and P990c first.

US networks don't want the P990. So US customers will have to risk using imported P990s on US GSM networks. SE, unlike Nokia, don't seem to have much traction with US networks. We are so luck in Europe that we can use many SIM free devices on GSM/UMTS networks.
From what SE has told me regarding this, it appears that they are waiting for Cingular and T-Mobile to get their UMTS US rollout further than what it currently is. It appears that Cingular is currently ahead of T-Mobile in their UMTS rollout and is expected to have it in full swing by the end of 2006 or early 2007. I suspect then we'll start hearing a different tune from SE regarding a North America version of the P990.

I work in London and I have noticed that more people use the P9xx than any other Smartphone (the Jam is also popular). I know many current P9xx users that are waiting for the P990. So I would have thought SE could rely on their existing customer base for replacement sales which could be as high as 1m units.
I've got a Jasjar (SPV M5000) & I will probaly change it for the P990 simfree when it comes out due to the slow bootup times plus I miss my jogdial from my P910, I like my Jasjar but it's too much of a brick to live with plus its not that much better than my P910. I only got the Jasjar as I got sick of waiting for SE to release the P990 as my upgrade was October I lasted until Feb before I could wait no longer. I would go back to using my P800 but it's so dated now I should really sell it but I can't be bothered so it just sits in it's original packaging, at least I get my daily SE fix from my T68i

Good morning everyone, I am an old member although I haven’t place many posts.
My location is in Greece for now, and I work in a third party company witch is repairing and reprogramming mobile telecommunication devises. Maybe known by you as >.
So I should cut it out with the prologue and lets get to the theme, yesterday evening one of my suppliers witch had visit Cbit came to the company holding at his hands… guess what,
A brand new P990i …
I felt very happy that at last I could at least see and touch the devise, even if it wasn’t one of mine…
At the back of the phone was written PROTOTYPE HF1 and there was a bizarre IMEI with only 8 digits.
For various reasons my supplier couldn’t stay for long, so I didn’t have much time to play with the menu of the phone, although the device crashed two times in my hands and without opening any serious app.
Well here is a small conclusion: In the first place I can not tell that the new style is the kind that I prefer, nothing to do with p900 or p910 witch I like most.
The back side of the devise and the opening flip are looking so cheap, especially the inside keyboard that is made of rubber and it reminds me some old nokia phones were by the time the paint went off. (may be only the prototype is having this in the photos at SE site looks deferent to me).
An other thing is that the only one left led is maybe for the wifi (I loved the two flashing leds in my p910) I didn’t saw it flash when the phone catch up the signal.
And now some good stuff : The screen uaoooo marvelous the colors and the brightness are terrific, the front side of the phone is made from a kind of metallic thing,
Like the cover of p910’s earphone look very good,(not like the cheap back).
The jog dial and the pen are mach stronger, and the camera sows a very good capturing of image even in video mode.
That was all I manage to check in the few minutes that he gave me the phone, I am sorry for the very few things but the time was sort.
Before leaving he tolled me that he paid 750euros to take it.
If he comes again one of this days I will check more things and post back.
(but my opinion is that p910 is MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL)

Keep Dreaming for a W990i; we'll be lucky our initial dreams of 850Mhz & a BLACK P990i even with WCDMA 1900Mhz for South/North America to be spawned. That said, most likely a docking station will be shipping with the phone, if not then the SE that works with your k750i should be ok. To make the bottom part of the phone look flat is a flat cover for the keypad chip-connector for protection & style. It comes with the tool to remove the flip-pad & the flat cover replacement. Be careful for just asking for SYmbian software. Symbian is the core OS (think of Windows 2000 core code for a computer; Windows 2000 was great code but had its affairs with hackers & such. Windows XP is the same code but is a different GUI alltogether), while the P990 user interface is UIQ3; Nokia has different incomatible version that is called S60/Series60.
