Hi all,
Seeing as some of us are unable to update to the latest firmware maybe it would be a good idea to list our CDA numbers and if we could update or not mine is
CDA 162011/2 R4C01 and i am running R9A002 if this is not enough information please say and i will edit with full details. Its just that i noticed someone who said theres was Sim free had the same CDA but was /8. Hope this helps to understand why some Sim free handsets can't update.

mine is CDA162016/69 R2A04,my firmware is R4A002 i have just discovered it has a qwertz keyboard meaning non uk. Now should i send it back i got it online from a third party on o2 contract. It came sim free and unlocked. I assume this is because it is not out on o2 contract. Now should i send it back and risk getting an o2 locked and branded one one or just put up with it. Is one Key the only difference.

got it from phones2udirect.com, the way i see it the only way to get one on o2 contract at the moment is with a third party, and a euro handset. At least its not network locked or branded so thats a plus also.

CDA162016/69

That is a German specific handset going by the CDA and the QUERTZ layout.

I would certainly be bumping my gums to the provider of the handset, that is typical of these (in my opinion) fly by night outlets, P4U are also very guilty of this, they provided my brother (who was naive and never asked my advice) with a Romanian K750, and it was a nightmare to update, and SE UK would not touch it for a warrenty problem. P4U had run a black permanent marker over the country designation sticker on the box.

I got mine SIM free from Expansys and they always provide UK specific handsets, unless expressly noted otherwise.

The other place I would never use again is mobilefun.co.uk, they tried to provide me with a Russian Nokia N93 and even had the cheek to remove the original manuals and put in a cheap photocopied UK one, it was also missing std UK parts in the box, and I had to argue like mad to get them to refund my money.

More likey to be a USB hardware config issue with your mac, what model are you running, it could be the USB hardware vendour is slightly different, this has been an issue before one some mac Powerbook 15" (PBAL15) as they had bus powered USB posrts on some machines that would allow a bus powered HDD to power up, but not spin up, and it was all down to the exact vendor of the hardware used in the specific Powerbook.
To be honest it would be simpler for you to get a USB card reader and do it that way.

It appears that you have the world's only "Miracle Mac". I have tried my M600i on several different Mac' to include: PowerBooks, MacBooks, iMacs and guess what? None of them see the M600i. I received an email from SE stating that the M600i needs drivers to work on a Mac and that they are in contact with Apple to supply these drivers, not just for the M600i but for the P990, and other phones. Sorry but I find it just a bit strange that yours is the only Mac environment that seems to see the phone. Not saying that this is not true but considering I have tried different phones, different Macs and SE says that drivers are needed, yours appears to be the only one on the planet that accomplishes this impossible feat. Would it be possible to know your configuration and see how Finder is mounting it, i.e. a picture. I will then forward this back to SE and ask them how this is possible.

TIA

Looks like I've managed to kill my second M600i before I even switched it on for the first time!

It just arrived this morning, so I plugged it into my PC which went through the usual Windows XP automatic "found new hardware" process.

I then launched SEUS, which said is was updating some of its files. Then I selected the language (UK English), and went through the usual "remove battery, hold down C" stuff. It detected the phone correctly, and said that new FW "Generic World 2" was available.

I clicked start and it downloaded the update and started installing it on the phone. The progress thing (green filling of the phone display) gets to about 30% up, then SEUS just goes back to the START/EXIT screen.

I've tried doing the update again several times, but always the same. Now the phone won't switch on, it just flashes.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've updated my P990i a couple of times with no problem, so I'm sure I know what I'm doing...

Take the battery out. Count to 20, put it back in and try again.

Thanks, but I tried that several times already. I'm now going to uninstall everything SE from my PC and download it all again to see if that makes any difference...
