No, I'm saying that on behalf of all my friends and many other people I know. I think the generalisation I made is very correct.

this thread is quite ridiculous. i have been switching between s60, s40 and SE phones. and it really boils down to your personal preference.

it's pointless to compare between a smartphone and a "dumb" phone. there are a lot of features and softwares that are designed and will only run for a paticular flatform. for example, the biblereader from olivetree is designed primarily for windows mobile and palm platform and all the features are present there. they have a symbian version with fair amount of functionality present in it. but they don't have a decent version for java. the other java alternative just won't cut it.

another is the mobipocket reader, it has reader program designed for smartphones (palm, windows mobile, and symbian). it's java reader is not out yet, the list can go on and on on and the debate is useless. it boils down to your personal preference.

Any NightBlade friends who want to put up their hands?

@Sony_a

'Mr MIB' - step back, relax and enjoy the ride - the C905 will be released in three short months, and im sure NOKIA won't rest - this battle is just beginning - the war is far from over

What battle? I think we are still waiting for SE to get back into the ring.

Lad at work has the K850I, looks a nice phone with some good features when its working correctly & it even takes a decent picture sometimes which is a bit of a disapointment for a 5meg camera phone, but he is on his 4th replacement handset now.

One of the replacements he had lasted less then 24 hours before giving up the will to live.

Lad at work will be on his 5th replacment K850 tomorrow, the current one has thrown in the towel today.

Another quality product from SE

@MIB,

Sure - NightBlade is a respected member of the Esato community...I'll put my hand up.

This back and forth arguing is going nowhere - Sony Ericsson are back in the ring, and challenging anyone - trust me, when I say NOKIA are in for a BIG fight this year!

Hi all,

Well this really getting silly now, OK so it's admirable if not even maybe a little freaky just how passionate and crazy SE seems able to make it's fans. But how about a little painful reality check for the SE zealots.

The K850 didn't win the Camera award and still 10 months after releasing still needs a fix it all firmware. The W910 also has it's problems months after release all due to the same A200 platform.

SE still mid 2008 don't have a smart phone with HSDPA whilst they do have it in a couple of handsets and all the competition do.

Despite what many like to claim at the beginning of 2007 SE have not sold 200 million phones last year or reached number 2 either.

In fact SE have dropped to number 5 so whilst the small number of SE's fans firmly believe they are just the best in everything they do the facts just don't support this now do they?.

@sony a

That's so funny what with one camera phone and some mid range smart phones with out HSDPA. SE need to climb over 3 manufactures to even get just below Nokia. As for NightBlade is a respected member of ESTAO by who his fellows delusional SE fan boys. As he isn't by me, mib or any of the other non SE fan boys he spouts his rubbish at that's for sure.

Marc

In that case may I ask why are you so interested in the C905 since you agreed with Nightblade that you mostly use your phone for sms and play java games.

@MIB

'Mostly' is the Keyword here...and, if you didn't realise - I use the SO905iCS as a day to day handset - and it does not offer me the option to 'add smileys' - the USP here, as in the C905 is Imaging...BUT...

Also of note my dear boy - is the build quality - as a Design Student - one takes into account aesthetics, engineering and of course how the features implemented will impact the market.

The C905 is design one cannot argue with, its suave, eye catching and compliments it's extensive feature set.

Rest assured, the C905 has much more going for it than just Imaging.

i think my voice may not be heard here because you guys have 500+ posts so far. i've loved se. but i was disappointed with their choice of smartphones in the past. i agree that they are way way behind nokia and are playing catch up.

for years i have been using s60 phones because of it's functionality. but now i am only using a k800i. this is because it suits my needs to have a decent camera. for a low price. and it suits my needs for now. but the smartphone features are all lacking here that's why i still carry around my ipaq pda.

so it boils down to preference and what you need from a phone.

N82 vs SE? hmmm. one phone vs a brand? if camera quality is not an issue, the e51 can easily trample SE in terms of business use. but if music playing is a preference, with a decent camera, then it will not win in the battle. so it really boils down to personal preference.

i know many here in esato are just SE fanatics (sorry for the term). that's what i noticed back then in 2003 when i first registered. it great that other brands are being heard right now.

@jojosiscar

Well said - although I'd disagree with your penning us as Sony Ericsson 'Fanatics' - being a fanboy is one thing and respecting a company is another...(^-^*)

However - the E51 may be impressive - but Sony Ericsson's new G900/G700 are examples of super-slick design, coupled with great functionality - now there you cannot disagree..
