Is is just me or does Nokia's Symbian OS Interface look better than the P800's? On the P800's, the icons are smaller and more simplistic (uglier?) and the interface graphics itself just isn't that flashy to look at compared to Nokia's implementation. I even think the Symbian 7 SDK's PC emulator has better icons and graphics than the actual thing! Now dont get me wrong... I dont think (and never will!

) the 7650 is the better phone... but don't you agree that its interface looks way cooler? (Its like comparing the interface graphics of the Windows XP to Windows 3.11)
I hope that software is released with which we can change this... like changing application icons in Windows or something like that.

Now look at the SDK PC Emulator's icons (I like these better than the P800's

To make the icons larger ala 7650, ckick view and select \"view as icons\". i dont bother doing this because i have lots of apps and it is not efficient to scroll. This is not an issue for the 7650. konti lang ang apps ng 7650 because of the limited memory space.

I tried viewing them as icons before... looks better... but not practical since you see less icons.
Most people who see my phone with all my apps installed are bowled over by how many functions the P800 has... the icons are cute as well when they're viewed as a list.
I do NOT like all the friggin' blue used throughout the menu!!! It's bad enough that the phone is blue... they didn't have to skin the whole thing with blue!!!! The original UIQ interface was a lot more colorful, with each tab having a different color... not ALL blue... kinda pointless having a color screen when the menu is all blue!!!

A newer version of Symbian will probably allow us to personalize the menus probably with themes

I am not very much concerned about the colors used by the OS - these can be changed via a future upgrade. I am more concerned about the hardware part - the LCD and light combination. I had the chance to view the screens of both the 7650 and the P800 up close and I am glad that the screen of my P800 has better viewing quality.
Although the 7650 has better colors, you will see very small dots of colors spread out all over the display as you move the view from side to side. The vertical lines in the 7650 display are noticeable and can sometimes cause eyestrain. The P800 has a very clean display. Smooth (diffused). Will not cause eyestrain (no matter how long you use it) and blends well with the washable screen protector I placed over it.
I think that overall, SE did a good job in their design of the P800 display (both hardware and software). I used the wap browser of the 7650 and noticed that the screen aspect and size just aren't practical for browsing. I don't know with other people but I prefer portrait over landscape when browsing.
I do a lot of browsing with my P800 in the morning when I'm on my way to work (Makati) in a shuttle bus. The P800 display is just perfect. What I like though in the 7650 is its joystick control (browse with one hand--you can't do that with a P800).

I'm also very happy with my P800... I can't believe I've had it for a whole month already!!!

So far, my only complaints are all SW related. Lack of it, some glitches... other than that... everything's perfect!

Yeah... I'm glad that almost all Phil. P800 users are
HAPPY (or more than HAPPY

) with their P800's... at so far wala pa namang major problems with their units.
I'm going to get one in the weekends (YAY!) and hope that I'll be one of the HAPPY users too.
Nakakatakot lang tong mga threads na to recently, referring to some P800 units which, at one point or another, simply started hanging during the boot sequence (with the SE logo) and not continuing after that. Up to now the problem still has not been identified and the only solution to the problem is to replace the unit.
I hope SE is investigating this and that they identify the source of the problem and come up with a solution for this. I mean, what if it happens to one of us? Buti na lang the 1 yr. warranty will cover this (although hassle pa din diba), but what if it happens after the warranty. Magkano kaya magreplace ng P800 unit??
