Monaco your not the only one with problems I do also, but what he's trying to say is because he doesn't have any problems with his satio then no one else does.
and In that case I don't have any problems with my iPhone 4 must mean everyone else's is fine also no?

Come now, let's not get personal

@monaco you should ship your phone for a new one, and there is a very good chance you will get one back that works as intended, just like mine and thousands of others that work perfectly. Instead of persisting with a piece of crud, take it back and demand a replacement. Lemons are common to every manufacturer in the mobile phone industry. The bottom line is quality control works on a percentage basis - ie: not every phone off the production line is tested only a proportion are. SE are no alone in this.

@AntonioX, where did I say no one else has problems with Satio?? Nowhere buddy, infact read my posts you'll see I accept that some people have had problems.

Look, go to any mobile phone forum, there will be mile long threads of people bitchin' about their phone and how this or that manufacturer should be shot. Every phone model released will have a proportion of handsets that are lemons, and people will complain about it.

See you think I am saying that ALL Satio's are working perfectly, when infact you are the one saying that NO Satio's work properly. All I'm saying is that the proportion of lemon Satio's is only a small proportion of the total.

For every end user who comes onto a forum to bitch about a dodgy handset, there are 100 user's out in the real world who are quite happy with their purchase. You all are making the mistake of thinking that these bitch sessions are somehow representative of Satio user's world wide.

I wasn't comparing the Satio to the Galaxy S as of course I know it came out less than a year after but for the mere fact that the Galaxy S has very little known flaws from the factory and the Satio needed 3 updates to get it right.

Samsung tend to be more reliable with new releases than SE, I'll grant you that. But SE do get it right eventually. Once they have the firmware working right, they usually cease bringing out new updates. The exception might be if they want to keep a model alive in the market until it's replacement is available. But this is to cater to new buyers, not existing. They might for example update the Satio divx support prior to their next flagship, to bridge the gap between current models from competitors such as Samsung (though not likely imho).

And that is what is wrong with the whole picture. Sony is a premium brand and the Satio is marketed as it's flagship phone, why do we have to accept that they get it right eventually? Max, I respect that you are a logical person and you are a kind debater on the forums but I can't believe you have been wired to believe that this is fine.

HTC and Samsung, literally came from technology burrows to battle the giants like SE and Nokia, who is on top of the game now? SE is getting b1tch slapped from every direction from all of the companies. Let's look at the Xperia x10, the other flagship SE phone, came out with 1.6 android when 2.1 was already out, many x10 fans commenting that it would be so much better to come out with 2.1, of course we know that it would push back release date but AT LEAST give them 2.1 after a couple of months of release, not half a year!? and by the time they release the 2.1 update, 2.2 was already out.

SE is obviously always several steps behind and cannot even deliver a properly working flagship on it's first try. It is like buying a Mercedes S550 and having it's a host of issues within the first month of ownership, you RARELY ever see this happen in the automotive industry, why? Because they test, test, test, analyze, adjust, test some more until the product is perfect. THEN they release, this is how SE should work, it is sad they have overlooked this important aspect of business ethics.

I don't disagree with you in principle Monaco, but all the other OEM's are the same. Even Apple! Samsung seem to be the exception.

I've never had a Nokia s60 out of the box work perfectly that didn't need a firmware upgrade at some point, infact going back to the N70, they stopped development on the firmware and it was still unstable.

I've bought the Satio a little late in the game and fortunately for me the firmware is stable (granted some of the features may not be to your liking, but the handset itself is solid). I haven't had to go through the firmware upgrading route. Mind you, my C905, K800, W910 and K750 all worked perfectly out of the box. I did manually flash the firmware on the K750, W910 and K800 to get rid of branding. btw, branding often seems to be a source of bugginess. I usually try and buy my handsets outright without operator branding.

Anyway, we can probably agree about one thing, Samsung's effort in the mobile market IS impressive!

Yes and did I mention that my friend got the Galaxy S free with opening a couple other lines? Samsung is fencing and SE is playing with toothpicks here.

Honestly, it is unacceptable but over at the SE feedback forums, the moderator- JEFF, has re-assured us that people ARE paying attention and they UNDERSTAND the dire needs of the Satio market, nothing more..nothing less.

Somebody else also had a confirmation that an update would be out August, but after playing feedback soccer with the SE team with no official confirmation, I won't believe anything until I see it.

I also would like to add that SE is not North American 3g friendly (it does work, at maximum data plans but not fast nor slow) what a sham.

Not even remotely surprised. I'm getting tired of people saying I have a defective Satio, just return it for a new one and all my woes will be gone. I don't think it is that simple. I have high expectations for this phone as I should but SE hasn't even begun to scratch my itches, not from release, not from the first update, second update, nor the third one. Does anybody have any friends or family (or knows somebody that knows some body etc..) that works in SE? I am very curious to know what is going on.

Like I mentioned a while ago, my friend used to be a former project manager for motorola hardware design and he told me software design teams are usually hard to work with, stubborn and lazy. As we all know the Satio's hardware is very capable of doing great things but software has been proven to be crap over and over again (we also know this with the x10).

Weel take it from me Monaco, atleast ONE Satio works without any problems

If mine can work (and I'm NOT the only one) then it's not a generic software problem. You might be tired of people telling you to swap your handset, but have you actually swapped it or not? Or do you WANT to have problems and an excuse to complain about it?

Look I don't mean to sound unsympathetic when I say that. It's just that I get tired of people complaining about something that might have a solution.

I'd be prepared to accept that SE quality control should be tighter, to reduce the frequency of Lemon's that hit the market. I also accept that more testing should be done prior to release. I used to work for a software company, and I can promise you they are not lazy. Stubborn and hard to get along with yes, but not lazy! But there is never enough time or resources given by upper management to do a proper job of testing. It's not the developer's fault.

But this issue is endemic to the industry not just SE. Indeed, Samsung seem to be the shining light, atleast for now. But then Samsung are one of the few OEM's who offer zero dead pixel warranties on Monitors, which shows the level of commitment to solid end products.
