I prefer the S III picture, it is brighter and clearer

nice comparison davidsic

personally just by looking at those reduced to reasonable sizes for web uploads or printing regular size photos, both are almost the same in details, with the S3 definitely having better contrast.

Only in full size 8mp that I can easily see that the 808 is miles ahead and would definitely prefer it over the S3.

but usually when I print photos I only print them to sizes 6"x4" or 7"x5" in which, 5 megapixels is more than enough really, because having 5 megapixels, 72 dpi (which is the common dpi for mobilephone photos) resizing it at 300 dpi would still print a photo size of 8"x6" which is high quality print already.

EDIT:
for regular printing and photo sharing, I don't think I'll get the benefit of 808, I'll only benefit from it if I need to print a much larger photo.

still, the 808 has xenon flash though, something the S3 does not have.

The 808 jpeg processing is tuned to produce the most natural colors possible, with the available hardware.. from that point is all personal preference, and it can be adjusted later.. you can add color, but you can't add quality. Nokia had the exact same approach with the N8, which I liked a lot.

Nothing else comes even close when it comes to noise levels and detail, but for most people the sony sensor in the Gs3/iPhone 4s is perfectly fine.

Again, the 808 is not about one aspect, is the full package, and range of effectiveness that makes it attractive.

^thanks.. and you are very enthusiastic about the 808.. it will be nice to see what it can do with some of those amazing landscapes that you manage to capture so often.

Anyway, I think I took this photo in vivid mode, and even then it didn't over do it at all, saturation is kept at bay, and colors are accurate to the scene. Overall quality is excellent..

Here are two good reviews, one from Romania, and one from Croatia (both in eng)
