I did a factory reset and started with the SIM and all was in Swedish from start. But it didn´t help. Unable to finish the configuration since I can´t create a My Sony account.

I will have the Android configuration app disabled now.

@herasymcuk how did you do the configuration?

@Maratonmannen - did you try creating a Sony account on another device and then log in using that information instead of trying to create the account?

Seems weird that Sony is requiring a sony account to start up the phone. But I haven't touched an xperia since my ancient 1ii so maybe it's all changed.

I don´t know how to create a Japan Sony account. My Swedish Sony account doesn´t work to register the phone.

I had no problem with the Japan 1 VII to start up the phone last year. No Sony account was required.

I did not know it was possible to use a USB cable to transfer to a new phone.
Can you describe the steps to do it that way, or maybe you have a link?
SIM in the new phone from start?
When did you connect the USB cable, before or after the phones were powered on?

Thanks! 😅

Connect a double USB C end Cable to transfer. I did not start with sim inside my phone too. It's actually pretty easy once you established connection. Prepare all your necessary applications id and passwords
Oh and remember to use quick share for large file transfers if need. IT works similar to zip file without the file and folder being zipped.

Congrats. I too think the design is very solid. Also, coming from the X m5, I do notice the extra weight, with it being well over 200g now, with the case.

I had a play around with the camera interface yesterday and I have to say its definitely an improvement.

I didn't have any problems with the setup, obviously with the SIM inserted. I don't understand this mysony account thing! What do you need it for?

With no SIM in the phone and a USB cable between 1 VII and 1 VIII I managed to finish the initial setup without register the phone.

But when I put the SIM in 1 VIII there was after a while a notification in the status bar saying I have to finish the configuration. Just a few steps left. And I was promted to register the phone in My Sony account. No option to skip.
My Europe Sony account wasn´t accepted. It must be a japanese account.

I need the My Sony account to register the phone to be able to finish the initial setup.

This might be a Japan variant specific requirement?

maybe you can use a laptop with a browser. Turning automatic translation and use your phone to translate any other bits that aren't translated. You should be able to create a sony japan account that way.
