isn't that something to do with blackberry?
although I don't find a reference to BBC on
www.rim.com so maybe its SE's way of saying BlackBerry Client?

If, as I assume from the thread title, that this is part of the FW release, it will be support for RIM's BlackBerry Connect software, which, when the networks start to support it, will provide Push Email on the 910i.
So, as usual, masseur is correct

I figured it has to do something with Blackberry, but wouldn't the support come in the way of the software? Apparently, since SE has purchased a license for the software they really haven't done much in the sense of supporting it. Blackberry is reporting that SE has the software and it's entirely up to them to deploy it to services that could implement it in their phones. But why not just release the web client software for it? I have a Blackberry account and I can autoconfigure my Blackberry unit with an over the air connection. It doesn't ask me what type of unit I have. Simply the IMEI, mobile #, account name/pwd, and that's pretty much it.

Anyone know why there are so many different versions of the Firmware? I don't understand, if this were a PC the firmware would only have the latest revision across the board.
Mine is CDA162006/16 and it says the latest organiser version is R1A30. but if you are on CDA162005/1 then the Organiser version is R2A17 are these phones on different hardware or something?

CDA 162005/x without operator branding !
CDA 162006/x with operator branding !
You can update your phone only if your operator accept new firmware...

Well absolutely none of mine do, but if I change their password to remove the numerics then it works fine.
Could always be the combination of numerics I use though. Definitely was not doing this before the update though the same passwords that now fail were working fine before.
I have numbers (and letters) in my passwords and I'm using pop3 mail and no problems with the connectivity even after the update.

Has anyone had this problem? I updated the FW from R1A30 to R2A17 and did a restore and then I lost the ability to use the virtual keyboard. I had had EZtap installed, and now I have no EZtap, and no built in virtual keyboard either. Indeed I can't even get text input to come up when I select it from the control panel. I can do a master reset and then I have the virtual keyboard again (although no text input selection from control panel), but of course everything else is gone, contacts, etc. Restoring causes the virtual keyboard problem again.
Any thoughts? Any help? Thanks

OK, I solved the problem. Sorry. But for everyone else, this is apparently the same issue that has plagued other FW upgrades on the p900.

Does the P910 backup and restore now include voice dialings? I seemed to be re-recording mine on a monthly basis on the P9.

You're kidding right? The only reason PCs seem to have the same revisions, is that those are the only ones most people get to download.
But PCs have different firmwares as well... the only ones you HEAR about are like WinXP SP1, or SP2... but between those 2 are hundreds of different versions as well... Windows XP doesn't just come in one build version. There's like a whole serial number (hidden from most users) that follows that.
The reason the phones came out with different FW to begin with is the schedule of their release... initial batch will have a semi-prototype FW installed... as deals are made, bugs discovered, or regional agreements are finalized... FW will be changed... there is different FW for 3 different versions of the phone... Global, America, and China. Each version has something different... the US version may need a different set of preinstalled apps... depending on license agreements... Chinese version has the Chinese menu and all.
