@plankgatan,

Try Paint Shop Pro. It's cheap and good. Not as good as Photoshop, but then, who would expect this when the price difference is about 5:1.

I scaled down the photo without sharpening, just to show that sharpening had been applied.

Here's a version with mild sharpening applied and saved with low compression (4 percent) in Paint Shop Pro:

Here's a crop from both your version (left side) and the above (right side):

Looking closely, it actually looks like the compression on your images is too high, not the sharpening. Do you save the scaled JPEGs also with MS Paint?

@AbuBasim...i only see some little different when you zoom,
i didnt thought 2 different shrinking-methods hade some quality-effect...(i never use photo shop...

salih...i tried that...i shrinked one pic in jpeg...one pic in bmp 24....but i didnt see any different

i cant complain...the pictures look often good in full size to

Or if it's any help,
there's GIMP 2.4.1 (completely free (never anything to pay) Open Source)
http://www.gimp.org/
it's nearly as powerful as Photoshop,

Direct download link (for Windows 2000, XP & Vista version):
http://downloads.sourceforge.[....]-win/gimp-2.4.1-i686-setup.exe
(easy install only one download file 14.4 MB)

there's also Mac & Linux versions (please see main GIMP site, link above.)
