That invocation itself is a good argument not to circumcise: what could be less compassionate or merciful than to hold a boy down and cut off his most intimate part?
The Quran does not mention circumcision.
The main reason given for Islamic circumcision is (ritual) cleanliness. Against this it is hard to argue, except to point out that there is no more reason for the male genitalia to be ritually unclean than the female.
What has Islam got to say on female genital mutilation?
As far as female genital mutilation is concerned in Islam, it is permissible and not obligatory.
Even male circumcision is not compulsory but a Sunnah. If there is any harm in female circumcision then it can even be banned in the sense that it has been proven by scientific and medical Islamic scholars that the way it is done is harmful to the health of the girl child.
Here is the origin of circumcision found in the ‘Covenant of Circumcision’ from the Bible.
[Gen 17:14.13] Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant." This is the covenant of circumcision.

That is absurd, IF that is done, it has nothing to do with the religion. I can guarantee 100% that this is not a cultural nor a religion thing.
The ONLY thing I can think of is in some countries such as Kuwait, girls have sex at a young age, so what they do is have specialized surgery to create a fake vaginal seal (you know when women are virgins they have thin layer of skin there)
They do this because they want to fool the guy into thinking they are virgins. Again this is not related to the religion, its the women who want to do this and it's very frowned upon IF it does happen.
Jagger, I know you hear these things but trust me, these are not related to the religion, these are just personal things not religious things.
Like its me saying, is it true that Christians and Shintos are shit eaters? (referring to the Germans and Japanese)
Those who do that dont do it because of their religion.
