Darn virus n' worm-creating dregs have now got a nasty one spreading via Skype and a danger to IM as well:
'Malware miscreants have created the first worm targeting Skype that's also capable over other instant messaging networks, such as MSN and ICQ.
The unnamed worm poses as a chat message linking to a website, as with other example of Skype-spreading malware before it. This malicious website contains a .pif file, that poses as "photos". Users tricked by this simple ruse will find themselves infected by the Stration worm, a mass mailer that also attempts to foil attempts to remove it by blocking access to security-related websites, and other items of malware.
Skype contacts of users infected by the worm get sent a message pointing to the hacker-controlled website. This is all fairly standard.
The twist comes via an attempt by VXers to hedge their bets. One of the files dropped onto infected PCs checks to see if a number of different instant messaging programs are installed.
Although the main vector for infection is Skype, the malware also attempts to spread by punting messages across MSN and ICQ, according to an analysis of the malware by researchers at IM security firm FaceTime Communications.
"The infection checks the registry for evidence of programs like AIM, Trillian, Yahoo Messenger, Miranda and ICQ - however, so far we've only seen it fire a message to an ICQ and an MSN Messenger Client," writes Chris Boyd, director of malware research at FaceTime. "The main target appears to be Skype with regards a delivery mechanism for the messages sent, but the potential for the infection to leap across various networks is obviously there."
FaceTime speculates that the cross-network IM worm is probably the work of the same VXers who created early Skype worm. The latest IM malware menace once again emphasises the importance for users to think before they click.'

Regarding the credit card, i find the easiest way to get rid of these preditors is if you dont get your salary paid into a bank, and the moment they phone you, you tell them you only get a ridicilous low salsry (say 1500) a nomth, Thats the fastest they stop calling you.

@ Jojo and HOBBS,
LOL, alas today I hath transformed into another Bringer of sorts..
I hath endulged in a full English breakfast this morning, with generous helpings of baked beans...
And now... I be... The Bringer of Hot Air!!
Jojo, I stay just under 10 miles/ 16 km from where I work. I stay in one of the southern towns of the county of Essex, very close to Greater London. (London is big enough that it is a county on its own, which is known as Greater London.)
We're a lot closer to the countryside and don't mind the daily commute to work if we stay in a really nice area.
I would never want to be within walking distance of any school I teach in either, if I can help it...We've got nice enough students and parents at our particular school, but I draw firm lines between work and our own space and personal lives.
Hopefully that way we remain a bit more sane too.
@ HOBBS,
Sofia is the prototype name for Sony Ericsson's much-expected flagship (non-UIQ) handset, with all the latest bells and whistles like 5mp camera, etc.

According to the 'updates' in that rumours thread, Sofia will now have a UIQ platform.
Yeah, let's see what transpires in June...

Hey Wanga. If you want to create themes using SE Themes Creator and then sell them on the internet, how do you set up the whole payment thing?Like if you go to wapain.net on your phone and get to the Symbian themes section, each theme cost 1 pound. How do you think they set that up?Just curious.Want to create themes for the 3 UIQ3 phones and the P1i and since its so painstaking to create, make some bucks out of it at the same time.

The problem is they dont even ask anymore!i already got sent a RCS,TRUWORTHS MAN,EDGARS,MARKHAM and couple others including woolworths in the post with my name etc already printed.apparently all i need is to show my id on first purchase as the account is pre approved and yet i dont put more than R1500 in my personal bank account every month.

@ The Hobbster,
Just being devil's advocate, but is it worthwhile for all that effort when there's numerous sites with free UIQ / P990 themes readily available, eg. from sites like
http://www.zedge.net ,
http://www.dotsis.com , etc?
